7. Last Friday evening, while I was walking home from the club, I
remembered that my friend Ahmed had called me and told me that he
could not go to the club with me because his parents were away and that
he would stay in bed the whole evening. I decided to visit him. When I
reached his apartment, I saw smoke coming from my friend’s flat. I ran
upstairs immediately.
First, I knocked at the door, but no one answered me, so I pushed the
door open. When I went in, the house was full of smoke and I could
hardly see anything. The kitchen, the sofas, the curtains and carpets
were in flames. I heard no voice, so I covered my face and ran into
Ahmed’s room. When I got in, I saw him lying on the floor, unconscious. I
screamed aloud and took him out immediately. When we were out, he
moved a little, so I knew that he was still alive. Meanwhile, some
neighbours who had heard my scream came there. I asked them to call
the emergency services to put out the fire and an ambulance to take
Ahmed to the nearby hospital.
As they were taking us in an ambulance, I could see the fire fighters
still fighting the fire. In the end, as I was standing by my friend’s bed in
the hospital, a fireman came and presented me with an award for my
bravery. I was so excited because I saved my dearest friend’s life.
