2004 – 2008: Supply Chain & Logistics Manager. Full P&L Responsibility, Global Distribution
Responsibilities:
Initially asked by CEO to solve the chronic service and inventory issues of DEK’s after-market business
Then took P&L responsibility for $20m business unit.
Achievements:
Consolidated inventory to 5 (vendor managed) logistics sites globally. Closed 4 Sites.
Increased ex-stock supply from <40% to over 91%. Reduced inventory by 40%
Reduced logistics costs by 70% via co-ordinated and structured supply chain solution(s).
Increased EBIT from single digit to 40%. Achieved sustained inventory accuracy of 99.5%.
Introduced on-line part finder, quotation and tracking tools resulting in leap in customer satisfaction
Re-orientated the Consumables strategy from commodity to applications science
Inherited a dispirited and “failing” team. After 2 years internal audits reported that this same team
were motivated and highly focussed on their business goals and KPIs.
2000 – 2004: Purchasing Manager, Capital Equipment. Just-in-Time, Cellular Manufacturing, UK & China
Responsibilities:
Recruited to solve the chronic materials shortage issues which were source of downtime in JIT factory and
Re-organize the purchasing function away from 95% fulfilment and reactive working.
Achievements:
Re-organized supply to Plants via Supplier web-site and defined Service Level Agreements with
Suppliers. Suppliers and cell leaders were then able to manage (80-90%) of inbound supply.
Re-organized purchasing to build leverage, and focus on key category/ supplier relationships.
Defined, and implemented a (flexible) Supply Agreement with strategic suppliers recognizing the market
dynamics, DEK was one of the few companies in Dover to avoid high inventory exposure to downturn.
