2. OBJECTIVE
Determine the effectiveness of each school’s
website to provide information about their
Environmental Education Master’s Program.
Criteria to compare the two websites:
Aesthetics
Curriculum Requirements
Presentation of school life
3. AESTHETICS
Montreat College
• Colors consist of gold
and navy blue.
• Page offers a side
menu to click on
different section
headings.
• Bold headings that
stand out
• No photos on degree
page.
4. AESTHETICS
Florida Institute of
Technology
• Colors consist of red,
white and black
• Contains photos
• Heading is small and
information looks more
crammed
• Drop down menus at
the top
5. CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS
Montreat College
• Montreat’s website contains descriptions
of all of the program courses.
• It also contains a specific schedule of
when you will take each individual class
• Both of these links can easily be found
from the side menu on the program
page.
6. CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS
Florida Institute of Technology
• Florida’s website offers a list of
curriculum courses and shows how
many credits you will take each
semester.
• You can access this information by a
link at the top of the page “classes.”
• This was a little harder to notice than
the link on Montreat’s page
7. PRESENTATION OF STUDENT LIFE
Montreat College
• If you were looking on this site
and researching student life you
would be able to find this at the
top tab “Student Life”
• This tab would take you to a
page with multiple options that
contain things to do around
campus, suggestions for
packing, housing, ways to get
involved and volunteer.
• The Go Explore link was most
useful. I found the “Take a cue”
link helpful because it contains
current/past student
experiences
8. PRESENTATION OF STUDENT LIFE
Florida Institute of
Technology
• Student life information can
be found on Florida’s website
by a link at the top of the
page.
• It provides multiple options to
click on depending on what
you are looking for.
• Florida Institute offers more
selections for student services.
• Although very specific, all of
the options caused me to
spend extra time looking
though all of the sections.
9. CONCLUSION
Montreat College
• Aesthetics:
Bright colors and layout that was
pleasing to the eye
• Curriculum Requirements:
Montreat included courses, schedule
of classes and also provided course
descriptions which I found useful
• Student life:
Presented a lot of specific options for
ways to get involved and things to do
around campus. More community
oriented and service opportunities.
Florida Institute of
Technology
• Aesthetics:
Drab colors that didn’t catch my
attention
• Curriculum Requirements:
Florida provided a list of required
courses and what semester they are
taken but no class descriptions
• Student life:
More options of student clubs and
organizations. Website felt less
communal and seemed harder to
navigate through.
