Facebook paid $19 billion for a 55 staff company. Though WhatsApp's financial statements aren't public
(Facebook doesn't break down its revenue by company), Forbes estimated total revenue to be $5 billion
and the average revenue per user to be $4 by 2020. As of February 2018, WhatsApp had over 1.5 billion
users and sees 60 billion messages sent per day1
Skype
Microsoft paid $8.5 Billion in 2011. Skype cleared $2 billion in annual sales for 2013, and its user base
has since grown from 196 million to 300 million individuals worldwide with two billion minutes of
conversation occurred daily over its network2
We Chat
Launched by Tencent, as of Q1 2018, WeChat has 1 billion active monthly users and WeChat user
number that check the app daily reached 900 million. More than 100m of users are based outside of
China.3
