THREE CITY TOUR OF FLORIDA
Jean Shafiroff kicked off her Successful Philanthropy: How to Make a Life
by What You Give book tour in Tampa, FL, with an appearance on nation-
al program Daytime TV, airing in 400 cities nationwide, where she dis-
cussed her motivation behind writing the book and why it is so import-
ant to give. Jean Shafiroff later appeared on ABC 7 from Sarasota, FL,
twice no less – a morning appearance on Good Morning Suncoast, and
an afternoon appearance at the live airing of Suncoast View. The busy
philanthropist and author continued her book tour in West Palm Beach,
FL, with an interview on FOX 29 Morning News, where she offered in-
sights from her book as well as advice for aspiring philanthropists on
how to help bring about change.
Jean Shafiroff was the guest of honor at a book signing party at the Palm
Beach Book Store where attendees included Candice Cohen, Alexander
Dube, Annie Falk, Candace Gonzalez, Kalu Kalu, Terri Lynn, Anne Van
Ness, Pamela O’Connor, Anka Palitz and Mark Young. Shafiroff wrapped
up her Florida book tour with a book signing party at Sequin Palm Beach.
Guests got an opportunity to discuss Successful Philanthropy with Sha-
firoff herself, meanwhile enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres amongst
the store’s jewelry collections. 100% of book proceeds and 40% of sales
from Jewelry during the evening’s event went to benefit Tri-County Ani-
mal Rescue, a cause close to Shafiroff’s heart. Attendees at this event
included Cheryl Dovenberg, Pam DuBois, David Ferguson, Kathy Fergu-
son, Rick Friedberg, Kate Jenkins, Candace Jorritsme, Paul Lattanzio, Pat-
rick McMullan, Countess Kristina von Merfeldt, Kim Renk, Rick Rose,
Scott Scala, Martin Shafiroff, Ben Walton and Countess Yelitza Karolyi.
ABOUT JEAN SHAFIROFF:
Jean Shafiroff, philanthropist and humanitarian, is considered to be at
the vanguard of a new movement of modern philanthropists. She is a vol-
unteer fundraiser, leader and spokesperson for several charitable causes.
Jean serves on the boards of New York City Mission Society, New York
Women’s Foundation, French Heritage Society, Couture Council (Muse-
um of the Fashion Institute of Technology), Jewish Board of Family and
Children’s Services (20+ years), Southampton Animal Shelter Honorary
Board, and Southampton Bath & Tennis Club’s Charitable Foundation.
Widely recognized for her philanthropic work, Jean has been recognized
and featured in numerous publications, including The Wall Street Jour-
nal, Gotham Magazine, The New York Times, New York Social Diary, Ave-
nue, Hamptons Magazine, and The Huffington Post, among others. Jean
works closely with the multiple causes she supports. Each year she chairs
numerous galas and hosts events benefiting numerous not-for-profit or-
ganizations.
Jean holds an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Columbia
University and a BS in physical therapy from the Columbia University
College of Physicians and Surgeons. She has worked both in public fi-
nance and private partnerships on Wall Street. Prior to that, she was a
physical therapist at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City. Jean is married
to Martin Shafiroff, an investment advisor, and together they have two
daughters, Jacqueline and Elizabeth, who share their mother’s interest in
charitable causes. Jean and her family reside in both New York City and
Southampton, NY.
