Hello my name is Michael Slingerland. I would like to bring my years of quality & manufacturing skills and
become part of your team. I previously worked for Magna a QS 9001 2008 certified Company. While working
14 years for Magna 10 years were spent in the Quality Department. Magna had 23 injection molding machines.
I was involved with pre part engineering. This included the tooling tryouts process changes, and the customer
approval process, and documentation. My experience has helped in detecting warp age, blown parting lines,
sinks, bad sizing, or grain variation conditions. I also generated operator instruction sheets with photos that
were put into place. Magna had many injection molding suppliers that had twice as many machines. This was
due to the volume of products Magna was shipping to multiple GM plants as well as Toyota Honda Chrysler &
BMW. My last year I worked for Magna as a Contract Engineer. I have spent time at two different suppliers,
including 6 months at General Motor’s Cadillac assembly plant in Lansing. There, I was customer liaison for a
new product launch of a new Cadillac model. I was on site every day dealing with the customers concerns.
I was also the Supervisor of the Quality Receiving Department. This included oversee the quality process at
many suppliers & generated sample boards of various molding conditions. The sample boards were used at the
molding presses in aiding the Press operator supplying Magna with products. Much of the material other than
plastics I was involved with was steel stampings die cast & aluminum, to be painted. There were fasteners
electrical and rubber products; I would oversee the quality control documentation systems being use on these
products as well.
When working on a problem I found it was most important to be able to utilize my knowledge and experience
with problem solving that would lead to a corrective action/continuous improvement solution.
Over the years, I have worked in the administrative capacity were I would interface with the customers and
suppliers. My experience has covered supplier auditing, quoting / purchasing of materials & inventory. I also
have been involved with engineering, scheduling, documentation, and record retention.
Before working at Magna, I worked at Michigan Plating & Stamping for 6 years. There I was a Quality
supervisor working with various size steel stamping presses ranging from 250 ton to 100,000-ton machines. I
also over saw different operations such as material steel resurfacing polishing and plating.
My most recent employment was working for Magna Mirrors as a quality contract engineer over seeing the
quality of 70 injection molding machines. Before that I worked for Visiting Physicians as a support/equipment
technician covering the West Side of Michigan. My position ended when the equipment was down sized and
went digital.
