The Eller College of Management is home to 5,500 undergraduate students at
the University of Arizona—but our program is designed to build a small, close-knit
community of peers.
Once you have been professionally admitted into Eller as a junior, you’ll join
a cohort of students with whom you’ll take all of your core classes. You’ll work
together on presentations, case competitions, and the rigorous class work that will
prepare you for your professional career.
You’ll also interact with faculty members who will challenge the way you think
about the world and support you as you seek opportunities to grow as a leader
through co-curricular involvement, international travel, and professional networking.
Your Eller
community.
“Eller is full of opportunities to gain
the experiences that matter. From case
competitions to proposals to modeling data,
Eller readies you for the professional world.”

degree is a versatile launch pad for your career. It offers
a strong foundation in the arts and sciences during your
freshman and sophomore years and a focused concentration
on business concepts during your junior and senior years.
Because the University of Arizona is a top research institution,
our faculty members bring their cutting-edge research into
the classroom, so you get the latest information alongside
time-honored principles. They are also dedicated
to student success and go above and beyond to
create an exceptional educational experience.
Certificates in sports
management or health care
At Eller, you can also supplement your major
with a certificate in sports management or
health care or a minor in global business
(see page 6 for global details). These
programs allow you to differentiate yourself
with industry-specific expertise. In addition
to your classwork, you’ll experience real-

“The accounting major is definitely a lot of work, but it is also sure to pay off. All
of the hard-working accounting students I know have ended up where they
want to be, whether that means full-time employment or grad school. The
accounting major offers so many opportunities for success, so if you are a
determined, hard-working student, stick to it!” Becky Fox, Eller Accounting ’12

Tax Advisor
Corporate Internal Accountant
Certified Public Accountant
“I took ECON 200 with Professor Gerald Swanson, and I immediately fell in love with
economics and the fact that we were using math to analyze meaningful, real-world
issues. That’s how I ended up choosing the business economics major - a choice
I could not be happier about.” Marisa Carlos, Eller Business Economics ’12

“I knew I was good at math and sensitive to numbers. After spending almost my entire
freshman year looking at different majors and careers, I realized I would like to become a
personal financial advisor, which is why I chose finance as my major. If you know where your
interests are and follow them, they will help you study better.” David Yin, Eller Finance ’12

“I chose business management because I thought it would prepare me

“The McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship pioneered the model of experiential
learning in business. In the program, I learned from entrepreneurs who built multi-
million dollar companies. Getting knowledge straight from the source gave me
the background and confidence to launch my own company and attract investors
while still in school.” Taylor Hedberg, Eller MIS and Entrepreneurship ’12
“Choosing Eller’s Business Administration program was important because
it allowed me to balance school, family, and work. The evening cohort
provides the same prestigious Eller education while fitting my busy
schedule.” Jessica Sorenson, Eller Business Administration ’12

“I was very involved with the Arizona Resource Connection
to help refugees in Tucson. I first got involved in the club
as a student in Dr. Cindi Gilliland’s class, then moved on
to be technology chair, president-elect, and president.
It was hands-down the best experience I had in
Eller. Between managing 25 cross-functional
teams, consulting for real clients, and getting
real leadership experience, ARC prepared
me for the business world and honed the
skills I need to succeed at Deloitte.”
Taylor Hedberg

“I’m involved in Alpha Kappa Psi, a co-ed
professional business fraternity. I’ve held lots
of leadership positions within the organization
and have been able to help connect that
organization to other opportunities I’ve had.
I worked for a concert venue in downtown
Tucson as a booking manager and was able to
set up a system where the venue hired interns
for the semester out of AKPsi applicants.”

“My junior year, I joined the Financial
Management Association, where I was
elected vice president of corporate
relations. In that role, I networked with
professionals in the finance community
and scheduled them to speak at our
meetings. I was elected president during
my senior year. I was also involved in
the Association of Latino Professionals
in Finance and Accounting. Being
a Latina in business, I thought this
would provide me with a different
look at the world of finance. I made
many contacts within the group.”

You can get the most out of your Eller experience—and boost your resume—
by volunteering or demonstrating leadership through student organizations.
There are nearly 30 Eller-sponsored student organizations that are tailored
to your major or area of interest. You can also get involved with Eller as a pre-
business student through academic programs by applying for Honors, the
Eller Leadership Integrity Training for Excellence (E.L.I.T.E.) for freshmen,
or Eller La Paz Learning Community.
And, of course, with NCAA sports, arts and cultural activities, and the outdoor
recreation opportunities that 300 days of sunshine a year affords, Tucson has
a lot to offer during your downtime.
“I swim for the UA Swimming and Diving team, and I am so
proud to bleed red and blue. Working every day—sometimes
twice a day and early in the mornings—for something bigger
than myself is an incredible and humbling experience. I have
a band of brothers in my teammates, and they inspire me to
get better in each practice. Every lesson I learn in the pool
absolutely applies in the classroom and in the business world.”

“As current chair and previous
philanthropy chair of the Eller Board of
Honor and Integrity, I get the opportunity
to promote ethics to the university, local
businesses, and the community. My
favorite part of this organization is being
a part of the High School Ethics Forum,
an event that takes place in Tucson and
Phoenix and gets high school seniors
discussing ethics and learning about
the complexity and difficulty of finding
ethical answers.”

“I participated in the Eller Global Cohort. A group of 75 students
across all different majors in Eller were selected to take 15
units in China over the course of ten weeks. It was the trip of
a lifetime and I would not trade it for anything. Not only
did I learn so much about business, domestically and
internationally, but I established great friendships with
both students and faculty members.”

International travel will change the way you think about the world. As an Eller student,
you can earn credit and experience other countries through a variety of programs.
Global Business
Program
A thematic minor program
open to Eller College
students interested in
acquiring knowledge
specific to the global
business environment.
Global
Cohort
Through the Global
Cohort, you can take your
first semester of upper
division Eller requirements
abroad over the summer.
This Eller faculty-led
international program
provides 15 credits in just
ten weeks. Destinations
include Brazil, Russia,
India, and China.
Study Tours
and Internships
Add an international
dimension to your
education. Travel with
your peers on faculty-
led trips to Asia, South
America, or Mexico,
or spend eight weeks
interning in Barcelona,
Hong Kong, or London.
Study
Abroad
Spend a semester at a partner
institution in England,
Spain, Italy, Australia, or
a country of your choice.
“I was in Eller’s Global Business Program. Through the
program, I took many classes on global perspective and
international relations. I participated in a global study
tour to Mexico. A group of 50 of us visited Guaymas,
Hermosillo, and San Carlos, visiting manufacturing plants
at the Maquilas Teta Kawi. I learned about international
business from a different perspective and also made
lasting friendships with students across business majors.”

“In addition to my summer in China with
Eller, I returned the following summer
to study Chinese for my Mandarin
minor. I lived for eight weeks in Beijing
and absolutely loved it. China is such an
important country for business, and I
feel that my intermediate understanding
of the language and cursory knowledge
of the business environment put
me ahead of my competitors.”
David Ware

“I am also a Spanish minor, so I
studied abroad in Spain the summer
of 2010. It was my first time living
abroad, and I definitely think it
gave me a much more open mind
and understanding about different
cultures. I also was there when Spain
won the Soccer World Cup, which
was an experience I will never forget!”
Amanda Wacker

“I went to Costa Rica the summer after my
freshman year with Dr. Paul Melendez for the
MGMT 202 Ethics Trip. I really liked taking the
course during the semester here at the UA and
then traveling to another country to see it all
first hand. It was such a great experience, and
the short abroad exposure really motivated me
to go somewhere else. I traveled to Europe the
summer after my junior year and studied at
University Westminster in London. I loved the
course I took and had such a great experience!”

“I graduated in December 2011 and accepted a
job offer with the Advisory Services Practice of
Ernst & Young LLP in Los Angeles. I chose the
consulting career path because I am interested
in working in different industries, traveling to
different places, and learning a wide variety
of skills. After internship with E&Y over the
summer, I knew it was the place for me.”

Your BSBA degree will open doors, but to take your career to the
next level, you need to enrich your resume with relevant experience
and develop your ability to communicate effectively with
potential employers. Eller emphasizes team work, networking,
presentations, and co-curricular involvement, so you have the
opportunities you need to build a well-rounded resume.
The challenging Eller curriculum will give you the tools
you need to succeed as a leader, and our rigorous business
communication program will help you refine the way you
present yourself to the world, so that when you land that
interview, you can sell yourself and get the job.

  • 5. “The accounting major is definitely a lot of work, but it is also sure to pay off. All of the hard-working accounting students I know have ended up where they want to be, whether that means full-time employment or grad school. The accounting major offers so many opportunities for success, so if you are a determined, hard-working student, stick to it!” Becky Fox, Eller Accounting ’12 Financial Planner Tax Advisor Corporate Internal Accountant Certified Public Accountant “I took ECON 200 with Professor Gerald Swanson, and I immediately fell in love with economics and the fact that we were using math to analyze meaningful, real-world issues. That’s how I ended up choosing the business economics major - a choice I could not be happier about.” Marisa Carlos, Eller Business Economics ’12 Product Management Public Relations Sales and Sales Management Market Research Advertising and Promotion “I knew I was good at math and sensitive to numbers. After spending almost my entire freshman year looking at different majors and careers, I realized I would like to become a personal financial advisor, which is why I chose finance as my major. If you know where your interests are and follow them, they will help you study better.” David Yin, Eller Finance ’12 Human Resources Manager Small Business Manager Project Manager Production Manager Territory Sales Manager “I chose business management because I thought it would prepare me with the necessary skills I need to understand, lead, and work with other people in my future career. I would love to go into event planning in the nonprofit sector.” Alyssa Martinez, Eller Business Management ’12 Financial Planner Analyst Security Sales and Training Insurance Real Estate “The McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship pioneered the model of experiential learning in business. In the program, I learned from entrepreneurs who built multi- million dollar companies. Getting knowledge straight from the source gave me the background and confidence to launch my own company and attract investors while still in school.” Taylor Hedberg, Eller MIS and Entrepreneurship ’12 “Choosing Eller’s Business Administration program was important because it allowed me to balance school, family, and work. The evening cohort provides the same prestigious Eller education while fitting my busy schedule.” Jessica Sorenson, Eller Business Administration ’12 Systems Analyst Data Administrator Technical Program Manager Information Systems Manager “I knew I wanted to major in business from the beginning, but I also had an interest in technology. I found a good meld of the two in the MIS program and added a math major in order to be able to inform my business decision making with a strong quantitative background.” David Ware, Eller MIS ’12 Financial Planner Analyst Management Trainee Foundation for Graduate Studies “After I decided to major in business, there was no question I would choose to focus on marketing. • 6. “I was very involved with the Arizona Resource Connection to help refugees in Tucson. I first got involved in the club as a student in Dr. Cindi Gilliland’s class, then moved on to be technology chair, president-elect, and president. It was hands-down the best experience I had in Eller. Between managing 25 cross-functional teams, consulting for real clients, and getting real leadership experience, ARC prepared me for the business world and honed the skills I need to succeed at Deloitte.” Taylor Hedberg Eller MIS and Entrepreneurship ’12 “I’m involved in Alpha Kappa Psi, a co-ed professional business fraternity. I’ve held lots of leadership positions within the organization and have been able to help connect that organization to other opportunities I’ve had. I worked for a concert venue in downtown Tucson as a booking manager and was able to set up a system where the venue hired interns for the semester out of AKPsi applicants.” Allison Stein Eller Accounting and Operations Management ’12 4 www.ugrad.eller.arizon.edu Courtesy UA External Relations CourtesyUAExternalRelations
  • 7. “My junior year, I joined the Financial Management Association, where I was elected vice president of corporate relations. In that role, I networked with professionals in the finance community and scheduled them to speak at our meetings. I was elected president during my senior year. I was also involved in the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting. Being a Latina in business, I thought this would provide me with a different look at the world of finance. I made many contacts within the group.” Acacia Rey Eller Finance ’11 You can get the most out of your Eller experience—and boost your resume— by volunteering or demonstrating leadership through student organizations. There are nearly 30 Eller-sponsored student organizations that are tailored to your major or area of interest. You can also get involved with Eller as a pre- business student through academic programs by applying for Honors, the Eller Leadership Integrity Training for Excellence (E.L.I.T.E.) for freshmen, or Eller La Paz Learning Community. And, of course, with NCAA sports, arts and cultural activities, and the outdoor recreation opportunities that 300 days of sunshine a year affords, Tucson has a lot to offer during your downtime. “I swim for the UA Swimming and Diving team, and I am so proud to bleed red and blue. Working every day—sometimes twice a day and early in the mornings—for something bigger than myself is an incredible and humbling experience. I have a band of brothers in my teammates, and they inspire me to get better in each practice. Every lesson I learn in the pool absolutely applies in the classroom and in the business world.” Jon Denton-Schneider Eller Business Economics ’12 “As current chair and previous philanthropy chair of the Eller Board of Honor and Integrity, I get the opportunity to promote ethics to the university, local businesses, and the community. My favorite part of this organization is being a part of the High School Ethics Forum, an event that takes place in Tucson and Phoenix and gets high school seniors discussing ethics and learning about the complexity and difficulty of finding ethical answers.” Amanda Wacker Eller Finance and Marketing ’12 and You. • 8. “I participated in the Eller Global Cohort. A group of 75 students across all different majors in Eller were selected to take 15 units in China over the course of ten weeks. It was the trip of a lifetime and I would not trade it for anything. Not only did I learn so much about business, domestically and internationally, but I established great friendships with both students and faculty members.” Becky Fox Eller Accounting ’12 Your global experience. ELLERCOLLEGEOFMANAGEMENT 6 International travel will change the way you think about the world. As an Eller student, you can earn credit and experience other countries through a variety of programs. Global Business Program A thematic minor program open to Eller College students interested in acquiring knowledge specific to the global business environment. Global Cohort Through the Global Cohort, you can take your first semester of upper division Eller requirements abroad over the summer. This Eller faculty-led international program provides 15 credits in just ten weeks. Destinations include Brazil, Russia, India, and China. Study Tours and Internships Add an international dimension to your education. Travel with your peers on faculty- led trips to Asia, South America, or Mexico, or spend eight weeks interning in Barcelona, Hong Kong, or London. Study Abroad Spend a semester at a partner institution in England, Spain, Italy, Australia, or a country of your choice. “I was in Eller’s Global Business Program. Through the program, I took many classes on global perspective and international relations. I participated in a global study tour to Mexico. A group of 50 of us visited Guaymas, Hermosillo, and San Carlos, visiting manufacturing plants at the Maquilas Teta Kawi. I learned about international business from a different perspective and also made lasting friendships with students across business majors.” Acacia Rey Eller Finance ’11
  • 9. “In addition to my summer in China with Eller, I returned the following summer to study Chinese for my Mandarin minor. I lived for eight weeks in Beijing and absolutely loved it. China is such an important country for business, and I feel that my intermediate understanding of the language and cursory knowledge of the business environment put me ahead of my competitors.” David Ware Eller MIS ’12 “I am also a Spanish minor, so I studied abroad in Spain the summer of 2010. It was my first time living abroad, and I definitely think it gave me a much more open mind and understanding about different cultures. I also was there when Spain won the Soccer World Cup, which was an experience I will never forget!” Amanda Wacker Eller Finance and Marketing ’12 “I went to Costa Rica the summer after my freshman year with Dr. Paul Melendez for the MGMT 202 Ethics Trip. I really liked taking the course during the semester here at the UA and then traveling to another country to see it all first hand. It was such a great experience, and the short abroad exposure really motivated me to go somewhere else. I traveled to Europe the summer after my junior year and studied at University Westminster in London. I loved the course I took and had such a great experience!” Alyssa Martinez Eller Business Management ’12 7 www.ugrad.eller.arizona.edu EllerCollege AlyssaMartinezphoto
  • 10. Your career. “I graduated in December 2011 and accepted a job offer with the Advisory Services Practice of Ernst & Young LLP in Los Angeles. I chose the consulting career path because I am interested in working in different industries, traveling to different places, and learning a wide variety of skills. After internship with E&Y over the summer, I knew it was the place for me.” Acacia Rey Eller Finance ’11 Your BSBA degree will open doors, but to take your career to the next level, you need to enrich your resume with relevant experience and develop your ability to communicate effectively with potential employers.
