The rationale for taking antibiotics before a dental
appointment to prevent infections elsewhere in the body.
Any dental procedures increase the risk of bacteraemia.
In a healthy patient, this isn’t usually an issue, but in some
serious medical conditions cases which may increase the
risk of an infection.

1. patient forgets to take their pre-medication and
treatment is performed !!!!
2. patient is currently taking antibiotics for another
condition ??
guidelines say to use a different class of antibiotic
give the recommended dose of antibiotics as soon as you can
