Hello, this is Ann Rolfe, of Mentoring Works, speaking with you for a minute on mentoring.
When you mentor others you facilitate conversations that create insight.
Insight is knowledge that you can use.
Insight lets you to over-ride the auto pilot of reactive behaviour and habit.
It frees you to choose actions most likely to produce the outcomes you want.
You put your experience
into the hands, heart and mind of another
•
Your motivation is a desire to help. Yet, mentoring is good for mentors too.
You gain skills and insights that you can use but the benefits go way beyond that.
The act of giving
stimulates areas of the brain that create feelings of wellbeing and happiness.
Science reveals that reflection effects mind and body in beneficial ways.
As a mentor, you train your brain to stay silent,
focus, stimulate reflection.
This mindfulness gives you increased ability to cope with stress, emotional balance and better health.
