Working Title: Lost and Found
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
My target audience is primarily aimed at young people and teenagers, between the ages of sixteen
and twenty four years of age. This is because the main character is a teenager and young people
might be able to connect more easily. The idea is that the short film can be gender neutral and any
gender identity can feel free to watch it, though may by affected by the main character being a girl.
Any social status should be able to watch it, and the film doesn’t have any links to the topic so is
unlikely to propose any threat to social viewpoints. However, it doe have the primary audience of
classes A to C1 class. C2 and D class are more secondary; they could still have access to watch it
but is less likely. E classes such as pensioners are very unlikely to watch it as there may not be
much for them to relate to. My research has shown that Sci-Fi type films are popular among this
target audience age range. It will also likely to relate to Type B socially conscious group as the
setting shows that something has happened and very few traces of humanity remain; possibly
something we brought on ourselves.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
For my sixty second short film project, the concept focuses around a teenager alone in an
abandoned setting, either an isolated town or street or factory ground or forest / woodland area.
The reason why the setting desolate is not mentioned, to leave the audience to be able to decide
for themselves and it isn’t directly relevant; but there are hints that it is post apocalyptic. The
progression of the film follows as the teenager explores around this setting, possibly looking for
supplies etc. She finds one or two items on her way, for example an old child’s toy laid to waist and
possibly a photograph (depending on time), both reminding her of memories before everything is
gone (possibility of a flashback). The last thing she finds is a body or part of one that has died of
some unknown cause. With this figure is a set of items (possibly in a backpack that the teenager
either picks up or transfers into her own) One of the items is the required item of a watch and the
other a book that she looks though. The last page just has the phrase “this wasn’t supposed to
happen.” The teenager then looks at the watch, where it activates and she suddenly finds herself
in a normal looking place or building, as if she has gone through time.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
I might have to use a green screen if I struggle to find the right setting for my location or be able to
give the abandoned setting effect that I need. For adding any special effects, for example while my
character is going through time and finds herself in the past. It’s unlikely that I would need a
Steadicam because of the type of shots that are going to be taken, slow moving at first generally.
Hopefully the sound should be able to be picked up well enough by the cameras used although if
problems occur, such as it being a winds day, the audio may have to be recorded separately. This
would still work, as there isn’t any dialogue to have to work with.
What specialist techniques do you need to consider? (e.g. green screen, Steadicam, post-
production, sound, etc.)
Does this require any specialist equipment/training/demos?

Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate my work by comparing how each part of the film is shot and edited compared to
how the concept is in my head and written down. Whether it went the way it was planned and if
not, how was it changed? Did that make it better or not as good? I’ll also compare it to the current
products already existing and how they have influenced my final product.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
