28. Heart Stuff
• The heart’s electromagnetic field is 60 times greater
than the brain and reaches several feet outside the
body
• Human life is first measured by the activity and
responsiveness of our hearts.
• We learn to use our heart intelligence dyadically
before we use it individually
29. Gut Stuff
• Our gut carries cellular memory of both
individual and ancestral experience
• “The detection of a person as safe or dangerous
triggers neurobiologically determined pro-social or
defense behaviors. Even though we may not always
be aware of danger on a cognitive level, on a
neurophysiological level our body has already
started a sequence of neural processes that would
facilitate adaptive defense behaviors such as fight,
flight, or freeze.”
- Dr. Stephen W. Porges
31. Synthesis & Application
From Dr. David Rock at the
NeuroLeadership Institute
- We have limited conscious processing in our Pre Frontal Cortex (PFC)
- We can tap into the unconscious brain through our bodies, memory, insight and intuition
- This helps someone create new habits so the PFC is freed up to consciously process new
things and create new stories
