pre-service training. Please review course materials as you prepare
for your retest, especially English Language Arts and the concepts in
the Math/Science/Social Studies Reviews.
What if I don’t pass my TExES
Certification Exam the First Time?
14. In the event you missed two or more sections of the TExES test you will register for the
whole test again, and skip the sections you have already pass and ONLY take the
missing sections.
This will prevent you from wasting an attempt if taking the missing sections separately.
For example:
A candidate took the Core Subjects EC-6 (291) and obtained the following results:
English Language Arts and Reading and the Science of Teaching Reading – passed
Math – failed
Science – failed
Social Studies – passed
Fine Arts, Health and Physical Education – passed
Additional Information TExES Exam: For Core Subjects EC-
6 and 4-8 Test Takers ONLY
15. In the above scenario, only three sections of the test were passed, that means
that the candidate will need to retake two sections (math and science). The
candidate will register for the Core Subjects EC-6 (291) or Core Subjects 4-8 (211).
When taking the test the candidate will skip the English language arts and
answer the Math and Science, then will skip the Social studies, fine arts, health
and physical education, then SUBMIT your test.
This attempt will count just as one attempt instead of two separated ones if you
had taken math and science separately.
For more scenarios please carefully read the chart below.
Note: ONLY for Core Subjects EC-6
