2. Conventions
Conventions of electronic/house music video
genre costumes don’t tend to have much
meaning behind them other than the clothing
is casual and current. An example would be a
group of friends wearing fashionable clothing.
If the clothing worn was old fashioned then
the costume in that music video would not be
as appropriate unless the theme was from a
particular time period.
3. Examples of costumes from music
videos from our chosen genre.
Casual timeless black
t-shirt
Fashionable summery clothing
Going out clothes relevant
to the location
4. Francis – Character who will be
cycling
This costume will need to be practical as Francis
will be cycling throughout most of his scenes in
the video. His costume will be a navy jumper with
navy tracksuit bottoms and trainers which is
clothing suited to cycling. He will also wear a
helmet to be safe on the roads.
5. Kostec – Character who will be
Skateboarding
This costume will also need to be practical and
non restrictive as he needs to be able to move
freely to carry out tricks on the skateboard. He
may need protective gear such as a helmet and
elbow pads but these aren’t necessary as he
won’t be skateboarding on roads.
6. Sean – Character who will be
walking and taking the bus
This costume doesn’t need practicality but we will
aim to film on a day when the weather is overcast
so he will most likely wear casual clothing that will
be appropriate in colder weather conditions.
7. Background characters
The people that appear as extras in our music
video will just be members of the public so they
will be wearing casual, everyday clothes. This is
good as it will not make our characters look out of
place as they will be wearing the same but some
more suited to their activity.
