Abstract
 The objective of the project is to design fuel less vehicle
using standalone Photovoltaic (PV) System. The tricycle
includes Solar panel, Brushless DC motor, Battery,
Charge controller and the braking and steering system.
The design of vehicle involves selection of solar panel,
power calculation for drives and battery charging and the
required rated power of solar panel, i.e. number of
modules. The vehicle is constructed using Mild steel
frame having provision for installing solar panel, battery,
charging pack, and drive and braking system.

Introduction of Project
 This project is about building a small tricycle that is motorized and is
powered by solar energy.
 Among all of the nonconventional powered vehicles, solar powered
vehicles are becoming popular as it is cost effective one.
 The solar panels mounted on the roof of the tri-cycle will collect energy
from the sun and convert it to usable electrical energy which will be stored
in a lead acid battery through a charge controller.
 This vehicle is free from any pollution as in fossil fuel driven vehicle. This
vehicle has dual mode charging, where during rainy season the battery
can be charged with conventional electrical power.
Motivation and Need
 The reasons for using renewable energy instead of fossil
fuel are describe below :
 Fossil fuels are a finite resource.
 Fossil fuels combust to create an acidic environment.
 Fossil fuels can damage the environment through human
error.
 Fossil fuels may contribute to public health issues.
 Fossil fuels can be dangerous to harvest.

Aims and Objectives
 The objectives of project are:
 To help out the humans who have physical weakness
 To develop a vehicle that uses environmental friendly
renewable energy .
 To develop an electrical tricycle that can charge the
battery when it is not in used.
 To develop low speed tricycle, but for a longer distance.

 The equipment and components are used in this
project are:
 Solar Panels,
 Brushless DC Motor,
 Battery,
 Charge Controller
 Braking and Steering System

Charger specification
 The rectifier converts the AC sine wave into a
pulsating DC wave.
 The rectifier produces a DC output but it is pulsating
rather than a constant steady pulses.
 A filter is used to remove the pulsations and create a
constant output.
 The most common filter is a capacitor. Which gives a
pure DC waves into output.

Result Testing and Validation
 The “ Solar power Tricycle” uses solar energy for
charging the battery .
 This vehicle is free from any pollution as in fossil fuel
driven vehicle.
 The weight of the tricycle is around 40kg and could
carry an individual weighting 60kg.
 This vehicle has dual mode charging, where during
rainy season the battery can be charged with
conventional electrical power.

Conclusion and Future Work
 With what we do at the moment in fossil fuels, if we
continue like this, there is not going to be a future
 Fuel less/Solar vehicle can actually run off of two
sources.
 It can run off the grid by recharging it using the plug.
 It can run off the sun by using the canopy.
 In the next five years or so we may see the solar
automobile/vehicles running entirely on solar energy,
a form of renewable energy sources.

Advantage
 The solar vehicles will replace the fossil fuel
automobiles in future.
 They are highly feasible and can be manufactured
with ease.
 Solar hybrid tricycle is pollution free means for
mankind in future.
 By harvesting the renewable sources of energy like
the solar energy we are helping in preserving the
nonrenewable sources of energy.
 The maintenance of tricycle is less and user friendly.

 The solar tricycle is green-friendly and does not
pollute the environment.
 Covers more distance using solar power.
 It is cheap simple and low in maintenance.

  • 4. Abstract  The objective of the project is to design fuel less vehicle using standalone Photovoltaic (PV) System. The tricycle includes Solar panel, Brushless DC motor, Battery, Charge controller and the braking and steering system. The design of vehicle involves selection of solar panel, power calculation for drives and battery charging and the required rated power of solar panel, i.e. number of modules. The vehicle is constructed using Mild steel frame having provision for installing solar panel, battery, charging pack, and drive and braking system. 4
  • 5. 5 Introduction of Project  This project is about building a small tricycle that is motorized and is powered by solar energy.  Among all of the nonconventional powered vehicles, solar powered vehicles are becoming popular as it is cost effective one.  The solar panels mounted on the roof of the tri-cycle will collect energy from the sun and convert it to usable electrical energy which will be stored in a lead acid battery through a charge controller.  This vehicle is free from any pollution as in fossil fuel driven vehicle. This vehicle has dual mode charging, where during rainy season the battery can be charged with conventional electrical power.

Motivation and Need  The reasons for using renewable energy instead of fossil fuel are describe below :  Fossil fuels are a finite resource.  Fossil fuels combust to create an acidic environment.  Fossil fuels can damage the environment through human error.  Fossil fuels may contribute to public health issues.  Fossil fuels can be dangerous to harvest. 6

Aims and Objectives  The objectives of project are:  To help out the humans who have physical weakness  To develop a vehicle that uses environmental friendly renewable energy .  To develop an electrical tricycle that can charge the battery when it is not in used.  To develop low speed tricycle, but for a longer distance. 7
  • 8. Tools and Technologies  The equipment and components are used in this project are:  Solar Panels,  Brushless DC Motor,  Battery,  Charge Controller  Braking and Steering System  Framework design of the vehicle 8

Charger specification  The rectifier converts the AC sine wave into a pulsating DC wave.  The rectifier produces a DC output but it is pulsating rather than a constant steady pulses.  A filter is used to remove the pulsations and create a constant output.  The most common filter is a capacitor. Which gives a pure DC waves into output. 12

Result Testing and Validation  The “ Solar power Tricycle” uses solar energy for charging the battery .  This vehicle is free from any pollution as in fossil fuel driven vehicle.  The weight of the tricycle is around 40kg and could carry an individual weighting 60kg.  This vehicle has dual mode charging, where during rainy season the battery can be charged with conventional electrical power. 15

Conclusion and Future Work  With what we do at the moment in fossil fuels, if we continue like this, there is not going to be a future  Fuel less/Solar vehicle can actually run off of two sources.  It can run off the grid by recharging it using the plug.  It can run off the sun by using the canopy.  In the next five years or so we may see the solar automobile/vehicles running entirely on solar energy, a form of renewable energy sources. 16

Advantage  The solar vehicles will replace the fossil fuel automobiles in future.  They are highly feasible and can be manufactured with ease.  Solar hybrid tricycle is pollution free means for mankind in future.  By harvesting the renewable sources of energy like the solar energy we are helping in preserving the nonrenewable sources of energy.  The maintenance of tricycle is less and user friendly. 17
  • 18. Applications 18  This projects has practical application in provide ding less or no effort to ride.  The solar tricycle is green-friendly and does not pollute the environment.  Covers more distance using solar power.  It is cheap simple and low in maintenance.
