4. Access to broadband statewide
Charter has announced they are offering free
access to broadband and wi-fi for 60 days for
K-12 and college student households who do
not currently have a Spectrum subscription
at a service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll,
call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be
waived for new student households.

Lessons from the field – Tips from NEAAAT
● Northeast Academy for Aerospace and Advanced
Technologies (NEAAAT) is technically located in
Elizabeth City, but the school’s 580 students live
in nine counties in northeastern North Carolina.
● The school relies on a blended model of both
online distance learning and in-person
curriculum, and calls themselves a
“regional-remote” school. They are a Title I school
that offers one-to-one technology with a
Chromebook for every student.

10. Teachers of the Years: Virtual lessons daily
A cohort of educators is compiling daily resources for distance learning. It is called
T.O.Y. Time.
At 9 a.m. each day, an elementary
lesson (grades K-5) will be posted, and
then at 9:30 a.m. each day, a secondary
lesson (grades 6-12) will be posted on
Mariah Morris’ YouTube channel, NC
Burroughs Fund 2019 Educator of the
Year.
