Introduction
Women are shown in advertisement are too often “only
housewives” dependent on men; sex objects, passive and not
involved in making major decisions.
The roles which women portray in advertisements have been
the subject of much public criticism.
What is Advertisement
 A form of marketing communication
 Action of calling something to the attention of the public
especially by paid announcements.
 A picture, short film, song, etc. that tries to persuade people to
buy a product.
Purposes of Advertisements
 Introducing Products
 Creates ground for personal selling
 Creates image for the product or services
 Increasing market
 Builds goodwill
Women in TV Advertisement
Women are usually represented in Bangladeshi TV advertisement
as –
Symbol of Beauty's
Mother and Cook
Sex objects
Women are inferior to men etc.
Sometimes women are also represented as irrelevantly in TV
advertisement.
Women are represented as symbol of beauty
Women as Mother & Cook in Advertisement
Women are sex object in advertisement
Women are shown as more interested in sexual
intercourse than man; really it’s insulting for women
Representation of women in same products
advertisement from decade to decade

Conclusion
Man likes to imitate others. Moreover media has a great influence
on society. So women’s representation in advertisement is a crucial
issue for our society. As per as possible we should represented the
women as positively in TV advertisement. It can be bring a great
change in our society.
