 Quality assurance refers to systematic, structured
and continuous attention to quality in terms of
quality maintenance and improvement
 Quality assurance in higher education is crucial
in a country’s strategic plans to enhance
effectiveness and to meet international standards
 Self-Assessment is a process to assess yourself by
yourself to maximize the performance
Introduction
 Self-assessment at the program level is going on
through Institutional Quality Assurance Cell
(IQAC) under the guidelines of Quality
assurance Unit (QAU), UGC, Dhaka.

 To investigate the effect of Teacher’s evaluation
for the improvement of quality of higher
education at Sylhet Agricultural University
 All faculty members, students and relevant
stakeholders are involved in this process
Purpose of SA Process

 To ensure the quality education in Bangladesh
Higher Education Institutes, Quality Assurance
Unit (QAU) was established in University
Grants Commission
 QAU formed Institutional Quality Assurance
Cells (IQACs) at each Public and Private
University across Bangladesh for this purpose
 These cells are working under the guidelines of
QAU
 A significant improvement in higher education
system is observed after the establishment of
these cells

Self-Assessment

 The quality of academic departments of the
University is checked through Self-Assessment
Report (SAR) that is prepared by PSAC using Self-
Assessment Manual (SAM) and survey data
provided by HEQEP
 Following steps are involved in self-assessment
process
 IQAC forms the Program SAC that will be
responsible for preparing Self-Assessment Report
(SAR)
 SAR must contain, mission, objectives, course
outline, facilities available about faculty and
expected outcomes of the program
 SAC conducts Surveys for Outcomes / Feedback
Self-Assessment Process

 SAC reviews / ensure the documentation.
 IQAC give the appointment of EPRT in
consultation of SAC and by the approval of the
Honorable Vice-chancellor following the
guideline of QAU
 EPRT conducts their review visit at the
University Campus and presents the external
validation report for preparing the future
improving plan.
 IQAC submit the EVR with IP to the Honorable
Vice-chancellor for approval by the Syndicate.
 IQAC send Improvement Plan to the Deans of
all Faculties for implementation

 IQAC was established at SAU, Sylhet in 2015
 Four Faculties are now under the umbrella of
IQAC
 IQAC is achieving all the targets set by QAU,
UGC, HEQEP
IQAC at SAU

 Quality of Staffs in terms of commitment,
knowledge, skills and attitudes
 Physical Facilities
 Environments : Governance, Health & Safety
 Content that is reflected in relevant curricula

facilitate attainment of learning outcomes

Why Worry About Quality?

 Quality comes out of a well structured
process or system.
 This system includes infrastructure, evidence of
good practices and guiding principles for
education.
 Quality assurance is a continuous process of
assessing and evaluating for continuous
improvement.
 QA focuses on both accountability and
improvement through an agreed and consistent
process and well- established criteria.
 Quality assurance process determines the
attainment of learning outcomes.

 The QAU will guide the IQAC to implement QA

 QAC will ratify and endorse decisions,

assessment of programs and prepare improvement
plan at the program level.

  • 5.   To study the impact of self-assessment process at SAU  To investigate the effect of Teacher’s evaluation for the improvement of quality of higher education at Sylhet Agricultural University  All faculty members, students and relevant stakeholders are involved in this process Purpose of SA Process
  • 6.   To ensure the quality education in Bangladesh Higher Education Institutes, Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) was established in University Grants Commission  QAU formed Institutional Quality Assurance Cells (IQACs) at each Public and Private University across Bangladesh for this purpose  These cells are working under the guidelines of QAU  A significant improvement in higher education system is observed after the establishment of these cells Quality Assurance in Higher Education of Bangladesh
  • 8.   The quality of academic departments of the University is checked through Self-Assessment Report (SAR) that is prepared by PSAC using Self- Assessment Manual (SAM) and survey data provided by HEQEP  Following steps are involved in self-assessment process  IQAC forms the Program SAC that will be responsible for preparing Self-Assessment Report (SAR)  SAR must contain, mission, objectives, course outline, facilities available about faculty and expected outcomes of the program  SAC conducts Surveys for Outcomes / Feedback Self-Assessment Process
  • 9.   SAC reviews / ensure the documentation.  IQAC give the appointment of EPRT in consultation of SAC and by the approval of the Honorable Vice-chancellor following the guideline of QAU  EPRT conducts their review visit at the University Campus and presents the external validation report for preparing the future improving plan.  IQAC submit the EVR with IP to the Honorable Vice-chancellor for approval by the Syndicate.  IQAC send Improvement Plan to the Deans of all Faculties for implementation Continue….`
