4. The electrical system between the
substation fed by the transmission
system and consumer meter.
Distribution line
generally consist of
Feeders
Distributers
Service mains
5. Feeder are used to feed the electrical
power from the generating station to
the substation.
No tappings are taken from the feeder
So the current in it remains the same throughout
6. Distributors are used to
distribute the supply further
from the substation
The current through a
distributer is not constant
because tappings are taken at
various places along its length
7. They are connected to
the distributors so as
to make the supply
available to the
consumers
It is a 2 wire
distribution system
It is a 2 core cable.
(2*10 sq mm)
8.
9. RMU panel generally forms ring
system
Distributor is supplied
from more than 1 feeders
as input to RMU so that in
case of failure from any
one feeder, power can be
fed uninterruptedly from
other feeders at the same
point
It is of SF6 gas insulated
type
10. RMU is used for HT side and it
has a total number of 3 switches
(Circuit Breakers and Isolator).
It has one input with two outgoings.
11. It consists of 2 or
more paths between
power sources and
the customer.
Less conductor
material is required.
Less voltage
fluctuations.
12.
13. These have two components:
(i) Technical loss: is inevitable and is due to flow of power in the
transmission and distribution system. This loss is fixed.
(ii) Commercial loss: is due to theft of electricity, deficiencies in
metering, misuse of category on realization of revenue etc.
14. Amorphous core is being used to reduce
technical loss by upto 70%.
Commercial loss is reduced by DT cleaning.
