2. Resources
Pre-production is important for the smooth running of a project. It
is for you to go through final development and organisation for
your project before you start production.
The pre-production tasks you do will depend on your project. You
need to undertake appropriate tasks in order to make your project
work.
A production schedule should be in everyone’s project.
The blue slides are here to give advice. This advice can also be
found in the main lecture. Delete when you don’t need it. Don’t
submit your work with this in.
3. PRE-PRODUCTIONPre-production paperwork for a print production could include:
Risk assessment
Flat plans
Style Sheets
Equipment/Resource list
Contingency plan
Copy (the written part of your work)
Thorough production schedule/ Action Plan
Location Recce for photographs
Budget
Model call sheet
4. PRE-PRODUCTIONPre-production paperwork for moving image could include:
Risk assessment
Storyboard
Shotlist
Equipment list and bookings
Contingency plan
Script
Thorough production schedule/ Action Plan
Call sheet
Location Recce
Budget
5. PRE-PRODUCTION
Pre-production paperwork for an audio production could include:
Risk assessment
Sound effect list
Music list
Equipment/Resource list
Script/Questions
Contingency plan
Location plan
Contributor information (interviewees/guests/actors)
Thorough production schedule/ Action Plan
Budget
6. PRE-PRODUCTION• Style sheet
– Collection of potential choice you could make for your products visuals
(colours, image styles and fonts). Provide some indication of which ones you
will use, where you will use them and reasons why
– This should explore alternatives to everything- don’t just include one
option. Look at several potential aspects to include and reference the ones
you plan to use and why
• Layout Plans
– Potential designs you could do for your product using images, fonts and
colours from style sheet
7. PRE-PRODUCTION Colour schemes:
This is important for
any visual product.
Talk about the options
you have, the
decisions you are
making and relate
your ideas back to
exiting products and
your target audience.
10. Equipment/resource list
Props-multiple full outfits that look apocalyptic, steampunk/apocalyptic weapons/tools: guns, knifes,
binoculars, am radio system
Sound effect list
Footsteps on gravel, punch sound, miscellaneous, technological sound, male scream, body hitting the
ground sound.
11. Style sheet
In my trailer/ short movie I
would like to develop the
atmosphere to look murky
and givein an un-natural
apoocolyptic vibe to
present the fact that the
world, in the setting, is
uninhabbitibal for the
human race and only a
small portion of the human
race is left to fester is the
leftovers of what was once
a rich-with-life earth.
12. This is the type of
place where I would
like to set my project,
a real abandonded
building or complex of
buildings that are
overgrown, which is
what would happen in
a realistic situation.
Although, it depends
on what sort
of apocalypse event
happens as some
cannot let plant life
live and a setting
which is overgrown
would not be a
suitable place to film
to make it seem
believable.
Style sheet
13. Style sheet
In the video, if I were to include
context of what happened to the
world I would edit and create
a montage about the situation,
similar to that seen in the
introduction credits of world war Z.
An alternative to this could include
the characters stumbling across old
news papers or signs which read
things like the images I have
included.
14. These are some props I plan
to use in my project, I
acquired them through a
theatre department I
contacted and they let me
borrow some things.
15. Location plan
This abandoned farm coplex and
airfield located in Acaster
Malbis seem apropriate for the
distance it is from transporting
props and people. I have rang
the owner to see if I can film
here.
16. Shot list
Low shot following the characters footsteps
Views from abandoned buildings to induce paranoia and tension
Shot from high up showing the perspective of another wastelander
One after this will be the protagonist looking to the place the person is and choosing to ignore it for the moment
The next shot will be the other character looking down and seeing if the protagonist is still there, but he isnt, the shot that
follows is the protagonist staning behind the other character from a face on perspective and the first movement of
throwing him off the high point they are on.
The shot after this will involve a far away perspective of the body falling off the high point. To make this seem realistic I
may have to use a some clothes that are stuffwd and weighed down to simulate a realistic body fall.
Area shots of the location that are symmetrical and in the middle of the road
Multiple shots of todays world for a flashback scene, maybe a slow mo sequence of a love interest, but not show anyones
face.
17. Script
Scene one-
The camera follows the protagonist at a low angle at his legs as he walks through a broken down
area.
18. Pre-production
• What are you making? (explain what you have been asked to
do)
• Why? (What is the purpose of making your Film)
• Who is it for? (Audience)
• Where will it appear/on what? (How will audience see it)

Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Abandoned buildings unsafe Stay outside when we can
22. Production Schedule
Day/Lesson Tasks
Monday 6th- Monday 13th If equipment is hired film all the scenes I have
planned to at an abandoned location, or if I am
unable for an unforeseen issue with the owners of
the land, find somewhere else to film.
Any days I have before filming will be used to complete my PowerPoints,
photographing my props, making outfits for my
characters and filling out my development diaries.
Any days after filming Post production for the video using adobe premier
pro, photoshop, after effects, getting sound effects
and suitable music (if needed)to go with the video.
Completing evaluation.
