Letter of Recommendation:
I've had the opportunity to work with Matt Wells over the past 10 years via Electron Propulsion
Systems, our chief electronic engineering consultants. Matt has helped to improve the quality
and portability of our instruments. He did so by designing a custom Linux system capable of
hosting our LabVIEW control software from a portable single board computer. This enabled
us to move our instruments from the lab to robot mounted systems running autonomous data
acquisition. He later designed and built a set of boards to replace the single board computer with
a low resource ARM microcontroller running LabVIEW Embedded. These new boards greatly
reduced the power, size and weight of the previous system.
Matt has shown excellent skills communicating with team members on tasks such as,
coordinating with mechanical engineers to assure proper fit for printed circuit boards to
enclosures, and helping to bridge communication gaps between team members at meetings.
The cooperation and collaboration that Matt brings to the table is greatly appreciated. This
atmosphere results in a truly enjoyable project experience for everyone involved.
