1. The Sandbox

2. Verisimilitude
• Surprisingly, this play isn’t very
verisimilitudinous.
• This play is absurd, it really wouldn’t
happen in real life.

3. Foreshadowing
• Mommy and Daddy make references to
Grandma’s inevitable death even before
you know that she’s going there to die.

4. Setting
• The setting is quite peculiar. The stage
is pretty much blank except for three
chairs, a music stand and the sandbox.
This adds to the surreality and the
absurdity of the play.
