2. It is very important for a
language teacher to know the
nature of English Language
Teaching and the way it is learnt.
Our method of language teaching
will differ whether we regard it
as a system o1 a collection of
words.
3. A student
A teacher
An organized framework
An institution
2 different LTL:
Inferior
superior
Depending on the command of the language
the learners achieve.
4. It used symbols, which are sounds, gestures, or
written characters that represent object, action,
events and ideas.
It is meaningful and therefore can be
understood by other users of that language.
It is generative which means that the symbols
of a language can be combined to produce an
infinite number of messages.
It has rules how symbols can be argued.
5. 1) Behaviorism:- Stimulus-Response-
Reinforcement. – Drilling, exercise,
repetition
2) Nativism:- A child naturally has a
language acquisition device.
3) Constructivism:- A child acquired a
language through interaction between
the child and environment.
6. Children come to know more
about the structure of their
language then they could be
expected to learn on the basis
of the samples of languages
they hear.
8. The knowledge of nature of language
teaching also tells an English teacher
that language is an arbitrary system.
With such knowledge of nature of
language English as the educated native
speakers of English use it now, not as
they ought to use it.
9. Thus, we can say that nature or
language teaching is very important to
learned language. “ knowledge put to
active use.” An English teacher having
the knowledge of nature of language
does not waste his time or that of his
students in teaching rules of grammar.
That way as a result, students have
greater mastery over English.
