Are there specific admissions requirements for the
programs that align with my career choice? Am I
prepared to meet them?: (for this section, I chose Georgia
Institute of Technology)- On Georgia Institute of Technology’s
website, I could not find any admissions requirements for the
Civil Engineering program, but I did find the basic admissions
requirements for the school: Four units of English, four units of
science, four units of math, three units of social science, and
two units of a foreign language, SAT/ACT scores, does not
require a letter of recommendation. I have or will meet all of

10. REFLECTION
1. Before doing this assignment, what did you know about
the types of jobs that existed in your field of interest?:
My mother is a certified teacher, so I already knew a lot
about teaching. However, I knew close to nothing about Civil
Engineering before I started this project.
6. Describe your process in this assignment (in literal,
concrete terms). How did you get started? What steps did
you take to complete this assignment? I first worried about the
project a lot. Then I broke each section down and started
researching components, and did a little of the project each day.
Then, once I had all of the information, I started making my
presentation with Power Point. I did my best to avoid the “Big P”.
11. REFLECTION
7. What challenges did you encounter through the
completion of this project? What went well? What would
you have done differently were you to do this again?
What additional resources or supports might be helpful in
the future ?
The only challenge I encountered was understanding some
aspects of what I was supposed to do. My research, however,
went well and I found almost everything I needed. If I could do
it again, I would not worry so much and maybe not
procrastinate as much. Once I understood the material, I
found everything I needed on one or more of the websites
suggested in the “College and Career Presentation” hand-out.
12. CAREER EXPLORATION INTERVIEW
I interviewed David Lawes, who is a Civil and Environmental
Engineer located in Barton, Vermont. The interview went well
and Mr. Lawes answered all of my questions very kindly. I
learned some of the negative aspects of Civil Engineering
(getting permits), but also the positive aspects (finishing a
project)
My two quotes are: “A satisfied client is what you’re
shooting for.” and “There’s a lot of need for this line of
work.”
