Purpose of Commission I.e. What do you need the photographs for? Where are you going to use the images?
License What kind of license do you need? Your photographer will be able to help you with that and tell
you any extra information re costs etc. you need to know.
Date When is the commission set for?
Start and Finish Time
Start time on site, finish time on site. Setting up and putting away equipment to be included in this
time.
Location Where are you going to have the photographs taken?
If outdoors is there a plan for bad weather What do you want to happen if the weather is bad.
Images Required This is a list of the images you need, literally a tick list is fine.
Portrait or Landscape Images Which style do
Any Logo or Headings to be allowed for in the
images
Do you need room on the image to put a logo, Heading or words
Style
Have you a particular style in mind – preferably you have discussed this with your chosen
photographer before even commissioning them. Include links to any images/website you like and
also that you don't like What is your ‘brand’ and what is the message you want to portray in your
photographs? (upbeat, professional, serious, engaged in work) TIP: You can include a link to a
Pinterest Board that has images you like on it
Branding etc.
Do you need anything particular in the images such as your company branding? TIP: This is
generally going to be for marketing or press images – you do need to get advice about this from
your photographer so as to get this bit right if it is something you need.
Lighting – is there enough natural light or is
lighting equipment needed?
Take a look at the location that you have selected for the photo shoot. If it is internal does it have a
large natural light source? Is lighting required?
Format for delivery ofthe shots (prints, jpegs
on CD etc).
Use of the image, are they required Large file size, small file size, cd, prints
Any technical information
Eg. Have your web designers got something in mind? TIP: Ifyou need your photographs printing
out big, you will need to have photographs that are fairly big files – your photographer will be able
to guide you with this bit.
Group shots –if the group or the style of
photography has a dress code have the
subjects been warned in advance.
Are you planning on group shots? Consider the location, number in the group, dress code.
