I started at Overnite Transportation in September 2005 -
weeks after the sale to UPS was completed.
The company was rebranded to UPS Freight, 6 months
later.
Inside Sales was my first stop on the tour.

I was fortunate to get to spend several hours with
Overnite's founder, Harwood Cochrane.
I had just read his autobiography - Mr. Cochrane's
Overnite - so to hear the stories of driving a truck in the
1940s was fascinating!
He even played in my golf tournament…at 98 years old!
My entire career was served out, at the General Office, although I
was lucky enough to get to travel to 30+ facilities in the US & Canada.

UPS was very big on volunteerism.
It became one of the best parts about working at UPS.
I met so many new people & had opportunities to lead.

In 2012, I moved to TL Brokerage Dept.
UPS was just standing up a split desk model.
I led teams in both Carrier & Customer Operations.
I gave up the luxury of my cube walls, for an open desk
model.

In 2015, UPS acquired Coyote Logistics.
My team went on Bazooka (TMS software) & it was amazing.
From day 1, we improved on every single metric – including those not on paper – mood, confidence & overall job satisfaction.
It was an amazing time & I got to be first to show UPS CEO David Abney Bazooka.

11. Security | Customs Compliance | Agent Carrier MGMT

In 2016, I was promoted to the Security Department.
I was also responsible for all Customs Compliance.
I was also responsible for 50+ Agent carriers, who serviced
1/7th of US.
I knew nothing about almost any of this.
Time to learn!!

I traveled to dozens of facilities all over the country for
audits, investigations & operational reviews.
I learned LTL operations from virtually every role.
I was fortunate to get to study under some of the best,
in their respective fields - Security, Quality, Customs
Compliance, Operations & LEADERSHIP.

The unofficial Overnite Golf Tournament was passed down for a
couple of decades.
My boss Ronny got it in 2007…meaning I got it.
I hosted 6 golf tournaments & still to this day...
