4. ESF (European Social Fund)
• Ixion won GCGP business growth contract via
the SFA & LEP
• Available for businesses within the GCGP LEP
catchment area
• For businesses who have between 10 – 249
employees
• Aimed at helping businesses to overcome any
barriers that’s preventing business growth

5. What’s involved?
• Attend and conduct an Organisational Needs
Analysis meeting
• Highlight training / support required
• Set short & medium training/support goals via
a Training Needs Analysis (employer led)
• Put in touch with grant advisors
• Train staff & Review
• Minimum of 15 hours direct 121 support

9. What are the Benefits of
Apprenticeships

10. The apprenticeship levy
• The apprenticeship levy applies to all employers operating in the UK with a
wage bill of over £3 million each year
• It’s a monthly, mandatory financial contribution to HMRC
• It can be accessed by employers through the Direct Apprenticeship Service
– DAS account
• If the employer chooses not to spend the levy on apprenticeships, their
levy contribution will not be returned to them.
• Employers will pay the levy at a rate of 0.5% of payroll from the point
where their payroll exceeds £3 million.
• There will be a £15,000 fixed annual allowance for employers to offset
against their levy payment.

11. Apprenticeship Non-Levy
• Businesses with less than £3m annual salary bill
• The government will cover 90% of the training and
assessment costs.
• The employer covers the remaining 10% of this and can be
spread over the duration of the apprenticeship.
• At this moment in time there is no limit on the amount of
funding that can be accessed
• 16 – 18 year old apprenticeships are fully funded
