This presentation includes a global issue that has been prolonging for quite some time and has an impact on life of people all over the world. It also provides causes for existence of this problem. This presentation suggests a solution to resolve this problem that incorporates technological tools. In addition, it presents some reasons that support selection of this technological tool in order to solve the issue. It also specifies different outcomes that can be obtained after implementation of the technological tool. Overall, this presentation explores a real life problem at global level and provides a solution as a technological tool to resolve this problem.
Nowadays, global warming is a big concern for the people all over the world that have a great impact on their lives. Global warming can be stated as a climate change that increases average global temperature. It is an increase in temperature of atmosphere of earth and oceans. The average temperature has been increasing for many years but in recent, it has increased at the fastest rate. Global warming has a negative impact on health of human being that increases the risk of illness, death and other climate associated health effects (Global Issues, 2012).
There are several reasons behind existence of global warming. Its main reason is increase in green house gases like carbon dioxide (CO2) that contributes to a rise in average global temperature. Burning fossil fuels, transportation and deforestation are main causes for emission of carbon dioxide and other green house gases. This causes more pollution in atmosphere that absorbs the heat of sun and releases in the environment of the earth. More population is also responsible for this because it demands more transportation, more food and more energy sources that contribute in increased level of temperature (Climate Hot Map, 2011).
In order to solve this global issue, there is need to develop and implement low-carbon and zero-carbon (LZC) technologies. These technologies can be used to reduce the carbon emission as carbon dioxide. In these technologies, several renewable energy sources like solar heat, wind, ground and water are incorporated that don’t take part in carbon emission and pollution. In this concern, solar technology and wind power technology can be used at home and industrial level that can generate electricity and energy at minimum release of carbon. It is based on natural sources that cannot be exhausted (Ockwell and Mallett, 2012).
There are several examples of zero carbon technologies such as photovoltaic cells, biomass heaters, solar plant, wind plant, etc. that can be used to solve this issue effectively. Along with this, low carbon technologies are heat pumps and cogeneration systems that generate the energy at minimal use of fossil fuels. All these technologies can be used as a replacement for traditional sources of energy that are responsible for the pollution and global warming. There are several global companies that provide this technology based apparatus and devices. Researches are being conducted on these technologies that create opportunities for their use in future widely (Smith and Gill, 2011).
Implementation of these technologies can be beneficial for reducing carbon emission and minimizing the impact of global warming on earth. It is because these technological tools use available fuel to generate energy in more efficient way. This can be useful to reduce the quantity of carbon emission. Apart from this, this technology also helps to reduce the transmission losses because of their presence on site of energy production. It can be also useful for the organizations to make them carbon neutral through reduction in carbon emission in their operational activities. These technologies can be operated at a constant rate that enhances the energy efficiency (Sweet, 2008).
In this, fossil fuels are not or less used to produce energy, which are major cause of carbon emission. Along with this, it can be also cost efficient because it utilizes the available energy resources in efficient way that can be a big reason to accept this technology with ease. This technology also integrates all areas such as production, transportation, electricity generation and agriculture that make it a suitable and appropriate tool to reduce carbon emission. Support from different authorities, organizations and governments also make its implementation easier in order to minimize the impact of global warming. Therefore, these can be effective technological tools to resolve this global issue (Ockwell and Mallett, 2012).
LZC technologies are beneficial for the society and country to utilize the available renewable resources in order to generate energy. To implement this technology can be helpful in reducing the effects of global warming. This can be useful to reduce the carbon footprint by using less or no quantity of fossil fuel for energy production. Thus, it will reduce the level of carbon dioxide in atmosphere because burning fossil fuel is responsible for generation of CO2 in environment. Apart from this, this technology can be implemented in houses and other places that will provide energy without polluting the environment (Murphy, 2007).
In addition, it can also reduce the level of pollution that is made by transportation and other vehicles, which use fossil fuel such as petrol, diesel, etc. After implementing this technology, these vehicles can use the energy generated by renewable sources that will reduce the level of polluted gases and other green house gases. These technologies will be able to replace carbon burning power plant for energy utilization that can be beneficial for the organizations to be carbon neutral. Several operational and mechanical activities can be done through this technology that will help to reduce the negative effect of global warming (McGregor, Roberts and Cousins, 2012).
On the basis of above discussion it can be stated that global warming is a global issue that can be a big threat for human life. It affects the life of human being negatively and can cause several health problems due to climate change effects. Major reason behind this issue is emission of green house gases that are generated by transportation, burning fossil fuel and deforestation. Low carbon and zero carbon technologies can be useful for resolving this global issue because it can reduce the level of carbon dioxide in environment by using renewable energy resources.
