• The following instructions describe proper use of the FB2.
• If used incorrectly, FB2 and other CHEP products have the potential to: become damaged;
cause damage to customer products; or, cause injury to the operator. CHEP recommends that users take
full care and abide by these handling instructions prior to and during their use.To the maximum extent
permitted by law, the customer agrees to release, hold harmless and indemnify CHEP from and against
any liability whatsoever and however arising (including without limitation from negligent or wilful
misconduct on the part of CHEP or others) in connection with the sale and/or use of this equipment.
• Failure to comply with any of the instructions below will constitute improper use, abuse or misuse of
the FB2, and CHEP will not accept responsibility for any loss or damage that may be caused.
• Due care should be taken to follow the instructions as improper use, misuse or abuse could lead to
deterioration or failure of the FB2 and/or occupational health and safety issues.
• Any damage caused to the FB2 which is not considered to be the result of fair wear and tear is the

Forklift handling
The forklift driver should approach the entry side from directly in front of the entry area so that the tynes do not hit the inside
of the feet or base side bearers.
(i) Gently insert the tynes taking care to ensure the forklift does not collide with the facing wall of the bin.
(ii) The forklift driver should avoid sliding the tynes against the feet to shift or slide the bin.
(iii) Do not strike the foot or sidewall directly with a forklift tyne. This is considered improper use or abuse of the FB2.
(iv)	When removing an FB2 from a loaded stack the fork lift driver must not allow any part of the fork tynes to touch the lower FB2
as this will cause damage and a damage charge will apply.
(v)	Do not allow the heel of the forklift tyne to impact on the bin entry wall as large impacts may damage the drop gate or entry wall
panels resulting in damage charges.
(vi)	When moving, stacking or de-stacking FB2s, only use forklifts, forklifts with tine extensions or pallet jacks. Do not pull loaded FB2s
using any device.
Stacking
(i)	Do not inter-stack a loaded FB2 with any other bin type (even similar looking fixed wall or 1 piece plastic bins), as the stack can
become unstable and the FB2 can be damaged.
(ii)	The FB2 is designed with location points to locate it when stacking FB2s on top of each other. Each FB2 in the stack must be
located properly on the FB2 beneath it.
(iii)	Stacking of the FB2 must always be on a solid flat level surface (preferably concrete). Ensure that the surface is devoid of any
objects such as sticks, stones, rocks etc.
(iv)	The FB2 should not be stacked in areas susceptible to high wind as this may cause the stack to become unstable.
(v)	The FB2 is designed to be stacked with the entry sides on top of each other and the feet on top of each other when loaded.
This is to ensure correct transfer of the load through the load bearing columns.
(vi)	It is not recommended practice to stack loaded FB2s with the drop doors open, and this must never be done in a stack greater
than 2 high.
	 Important:
	 The FB2 can be damaged by inappropriate stacking. The following procedures should be followed;
	1. Do not attempt to stack the bins by locating them on top of one another while the forklift is moving forward.
	2.	The forklift driver must stop the forklift and position the FB2 over the bin beneath it before lowering the FB2 into place.
During this process the tynes should be in a horizontal position.
	3. Forklift drivers should under no circumstances slide or drive the FB2 into location.

Stacking and load limitations
(i) The FB2 is designed to take a maximum load of 500 kg. This must not be exceeded.
(ii) The FB2 can be stacked 5 high for up to 30 days, providing the temperature does not exceed 35ºC.
(iii) It can be stacked 4 high for up to 30 days, if the temperature will reach between 35 and 40ºC.
(iv) It can be stacked 6 high for up to 6 months in a cold room environment (i.e. 2ºC).
(v)	Stacking of loaded FB2 should be avoided in temperatures exceeding 40ºC.
Storage
(i) When folded, the FB2 can be stacked up to 10 high on flat level surfaces.
(ii)	In CHEP Service Centres it is permissible to stack folded FB2s up to 20 high provided the stack is secured and against a wall
or block stacked and away from any personnel thoroughfare.
(iii) It is preferable that FB2s are stored under cover where possible to reduce UV exposure.
De-stacking
(i)	As the FB2 is nested into the FB2 beneath it, always ensure that the forklift tynes lift the FB2 vertically to ensure that it is clear of
the one beneath it before moving away from the stack.
(ii)	When removing an FB2 from a loaded stack the fork lift driver must not allow any part of the fork tynes to touch the lower FB2 as
this will cause damage and a damage charge will apply.
(iii)	Do not pull loaded FB2s using any device.
Beam Racking
(i) The FB2 can be stacked 2 high for a maximum period of 30 days on Australian Standard Beam racking or drive through racking.
(ii) Care should be taken to centre the FB2 on the beams.
Operating temperatures
(i) The full operational temperature range is 0 to 35ºC.
(ii) If the temperature is higher than 35ºC, reduced stack heights are to be used (see Stacking Limitations).
(iii) If the temperature is below 0ºC, special handling is required (see Freezer applications).
Freezer applications
(i) It is important that the walls of the FB2 are not erected or folded in temperatures below 0ºC.
(ii)	The FB2 is more brittle and vulnerable to impacts in sub zero temperatures. It should not be loaded or unloaded in temperatures
below -10ºC. The FB2 should never be exposed to temperatures below -30ºC.
(iii)	Extra care must be taken to avoid impacting the FB2 with the forklift or tynes when stacking and destacking in sub
zero temperatures.
Lid
(i)	With the leading edge facing away from you ease the two outer side edges into the lid groove on the foot sidewalls and slide the lid
towards the entry side
(ii)	The leading edge should be inserted as far as possible into the entry wall groove, so that the back of the lid can be aligned with the
lid groove of the back entry sidewall. Slide the lid backwards by 10 mm so that the lid is supported in the lid groove of each wall
and/or drop door.

Transport
(i)	The FB2 is to be strapped down during transportation in both the erected format as well as when folded. Use the strapping positions
marked on the bin at each corner only.
(ii)	Corner guards are to be used when winching or tying down folded or erected FB2 on trucks. Alternatively straps must be used
and positioned only at the corners.
(iii)	Strapping must not be used across the centre of the FB2, as this may cause serious damage to the FB2 and may render loads
unsafe. Straps must be located against the raised corners at the positions marked on the bin. Alternatively, use a lid to strap down
FB2s with a single strap across the middle. Winching down excessively will damage the FB2.
(iv)	In the transportation of empty folded bins it is intended that FB2s are not interstacked with Other CHEP Plastic Bins (PBs) or
MegaBins. If this is unavoidable, the folded FB2 must be placed on top of a MegaBin or PB rather than the reverse.
(v)	A visual check should be made to ensure that each FB2 is correctly located into the bin beneath. Failure to ensure the bins are
correctly interlocked will damage the FB2, possibly causing the bins to come open during transport.
(vi)	When being moved / transported fully loaded the FB2 should be stacked no greater than 3 high.
Cleaning
(i) Temperature is not to exceed 80ºC during washing or drying.
(ii) Only chemicals approved by CHEP should be used.
(iii) The FB2s must be rinsed with water to remove all chemicals or soaps used during washing.
(iv)	If FB2s are returned to CHEP either excessively dirty or contaminated, CHEP will charge you all costs incurred in connection with
the cleaning of the FB2.
General
It is at all times the responsibility of the user to ensure that the stack is safe from falling. The manufacturer of the FB2 and CHEP do not
accept responsibility for damage to product, FB2, or injury to persons if the FB2 has been unsafely or improperly loaded or stacked during
transit or storage.
Nothing in these Handling Instructions varies or modifies the Terms of Hire applying to FB2s.
FoldableBin - FB2 HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS
Overview
The foldable bin (FB2) has been designed
to incorporate many of the superior features
of the industry leading plastic bin (PB7),
with the added advantage of folding
down when empty. The FB2 can provide
substantial savings in the return transport
costs and storage space required for bulk
distribution. Building on the success of
CHEP’s plastic bin range, with its improved
product storage, cold chain and handling
properties, the FB2 represents a major
step forward for Australian food producers,
processors and retailers.
The FB2 is easily assembled for product
loading, and when empty folds down to
reduce space for storage and transportation.
Its three-into-one fold down ratio can provide
significant savings in freight relocation costs.
The FB2 is manufactured from food grade
plastic, making it ideal for most food contact
environments. Being impervious to moisture
it will also maintain its strength when

(ii) When removing an FB2 from a loaded stack the fork lift driver must not allow any part of the fork tynes to touch the lower FB2 as this will cause damage and a damage charge will apply. (iii) Do not pull loaded FB2s using any device. Beam Racking (i) The FB2 can be stacked 2 high for a maximum period of 30 days on Australian Standard Beam racking or drive through racking. (ii) Care should be taken to centre the FB2 on the beams. Operating temperatures (i) The full operational temperature range is 0 to 35ºC. (ii) If the temperature is higher than 35ºC, reduced stack heights are to be used (see Stacking Limitations). (iii) If the temperature is below 0ºC, special handling is required (see Freezer applications). Freezer applications (i) It is important that the walls of the FB2 are not erected or folded in temperatures below 0ºC. (ii) The FB2 is more brittle and vulnerable to impacts in sub zero temperatures. It should not be loaded or unloaded in temperatures below -10ºC. The FB2 should never be exposed to temperatures below -30ºC. (iii) Extra care must be taken to avoid impacting the FB2 with the forklift or tynes when stacking and destacking in sub zero temperatures. Lid (i) With the leading edge facing away from you ease the two outer side edges into the lid groove on the foot sidewalls and slide the lid towards the entry side (ii) The leading edge should be inserted as far as possible into the entry wall groove, so that the back of the lid can be aligned with the lid groove of the back entry sidewall. Slide the lid backwards by 10 mm so that the lid is supported in the lid groove of each wall and/or drop door. FoldableBin - FB2 HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS
  • 8. These specifications and handling instructions are subject to variation and may be changed without notice by CHEP A Brambles Company ABN 11 117 266 323 Transport (i) The FB2 is to be strapped down during transportation in both the erected format as well as when folded. Use the strapping positions marked on the bin at each corner only. (ii) Corner guards are to be used when winching or tying down folded or erected FB2 on trucks. Alternatively straps must be used and positioned only at the corners. (iii) Strapping must not be used across the centre of the FB2, as this may cause serious damage to the FB2 and may render loads unsafe. Straps must be located against the raised corners at the positions marked on the bin. Alternatively, use a lid to strap down FB2s with a single strap across the middle. Winching down excessively will damage the FB2. (iv) In the transportation of empty folded bins it is intended that FB2s are not interstacked with Other CHEP Plastic Bins (PBs) or MegaBins. If this is unavoidable, the folded FB2 must be placed on top of a MegaBin or PB rather than the reverse. (v) A visual check should be made to ensure that each FB2 is correctly located into the bin beneath. Failure to ensure the bins are correctly interlocked will damage the FB2, possibly causing the bins to come open during transport. (vi) When being moved / transported fully loaded the FB2 should be stacked no greater than 3 high. Cleaning (i) Temperature is not to exceed 80ºC during washing or drying. (ii) Only chemicals approved by CHEP should be used. (iii) The FB2s must be rinsed with water to remove all chemicals or soaps used during washing. (iv) If FB2s are returned to CHEP either excessively dirty or contaminated, CHEP will charge you all costs incurred in connection with the cleaning of the FB2. General It is at all times the responsibility of the user to ensure that the stack is safe from falling. The manufacturer of the FB2 and CHEP do not accept responsibility for damage to product, FB2, or injury to persons if the FB2 has been unsafely or improperly loaded or stacked during transit or storage. Nothing in these Handling Instructions varies or modifies the Terms of Hire applying to FB2s. FoldableBin - FB2 HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS
  • 9. Overview The foldable bin (FB2) has been designed to incorporate many of the superior features of the industry leading plastic bin (PB7), with the added advantage of folding down when empty. The FB2 can provide substantial savings in the return transport costs and storage space required for bulk distribution. Building on the success of CHEP’s plastic bin range, with its improved product storage, cold chain and handling properties, the FB2 represents a major step forward for Australian food producers, processors and retailers. The FB2 is easily assembled for product loading, and when empty folds down to reduce space for storage and transportation. Its three-into-one fold down ratio can provide significant savings in freight relocation costs. The FB2 is manufactured from food grade plastic, making it ideal for most food contact environments. Being impervious to moisture it will also maintain its strength when stacked in cold storage.
