3. I. Industry environment/Machine Tool Situation
From my research from AMT, Gardner research and the US department of
commerce, I believe machine tool consumption will remain at the same level
as 2007. Many companies have been profitable in 2007 and this will be a
major source of purchase fuel for 2008. Much of the spending will relay on
existing cash and less borrowing/credit.
According to a machine tool purchase cycle, we may be heading for a
downturn in machine tool consumption at the beginning of the year.
Purchases will increase during the middle of the second quarter. The third
quarter will be good, following with an equally good forth quarter. Some
industries will help soften this downturn at the beginning of the year.

• A trend exists using horizontal centers w/pallets greater that 400mm
• Large VMC are a second largest purchase segment industry.
• Multi-purpose lathes continue to grow in popularity.
• Oil field work may be the leading industry for machine purchasing. There
is a large increase in gas prices as well as increase in bio fuels will
continue to drive up prices for corn and soybean.
• Over seas work, including die/mold is returning to USA.
• Job Contracts shops will accept new work as OEM’s look for continued
ways to reduce production costs.
• Automation on machinery will continue to be an increased value added
reason as labor reduction becomes more important to be competitive on a
global market.

7. V. Dealer Open Houses
I will be contacting all dealers and scheduling all special events to
support. A master calendar will be issued with these dates. This
master will be completed by January 5, 2008
VI. Dealer Action plan:
I am worried about taking too much dealer change or termination.
Currently, we will have replaced or changed 80% or our dealers over
a 1.5 year period. This is not a good way to establish a long term
presence in the USA. End users will not want to buy from a builder
that cannot dedicate good market support to any company. If a
dealer is not working out we must find a way to motivate them.
Below are some changes. I am worried that too many changes will
not increase sales. Sales will stay the same or go backwards when
we change a particular state.
1. The following territories need immediate attention to sign new
dealer contracts.
MN, NY, EPA, WA, OR
2. Current dealers that will either be changed or replaced:
a. CA: We are considering changing territory and adding eagle.
Change Wesco and All American and add eagle.
b. WI: Consider termination of Integra and replacing with Jeff Lath
c. WV: consider replace of Mabscott
d. Southeast: consider replace of Cardinal
e. L&M wants MO to be put in his contract.
f. IA & NE consider additional dealer in NE
g. MO- Interview Burst and consider alternatives
h. S. IL- keep Coretec but consider options
i. N. IL discuss how to increase sales
j. S. IL Knox needs to consider how to increase and how lines
interfere with Hwacheon.
k. KS need to find dealer
l. Clancy- needs to discuss future sales how to increase.
8. m. Methods- has committed to Hwacheon. We must commit to
them. New training and support of consistent visitors will be put
into calendar.
n. Mexico- currently we will be adding a new company and
informing Commai of termination.
VII. Advertising/Marketing
Brand Name: Establishing a new brand name will help increase the positive
sale message of Hwacheon's quality construction and support. This means
a common message must be displayed across all media, tradeshows open
house, brochures and website.
New Logo: If a new company logo will be issued, many new advertisements
and marketing needs to be done to establish a new name.
Budget: A larger budget will be needed almost $110,000 to accomplish a
new image.
Aggressive: Develop aggressive advertising campaign up to IMTS.
1. New marketing companies will be interviewed.
a. Hamilton and Bond will contribute much to a new marketing
image.
b. We will explore advertising with design and MMS
c. Shafer and associates will also be considered.
2. Gross: Will keep advertising with Gross. But we need to understand
impact of advertising. We do not know how the advertising works and if it
is effective. – Budget $20,000
A. Need to develop new ads for New Year.
B. must consider new Hwacheon logo before design.
3. Modern Machine Shop: We will put (4) new advertisements into Modern
Machine Shop. $35,000. Advertisements should be back page.
4. Die Mold magazine: need to add (2) advertisements to increase
awareness of Hwacheon M/C line. $10,000. Advertisements should
be back page.
5. Signs will be added to machines during trade shows to increase visual
awareness. $3,000
6. Covers and lights will be added to trade show machines to increase visual
impact of machine. $2,000
9. 7. A monthly news letter/E-Zine: will be sent to all dealers making them
aware:
A. new ideas from Hwacheon
B. stock updates and changes to quotations
c. Success stories of existing dealers and customers.
d. Trade shows that we will be attending.
E. Other educational and special activities that increase
awareness.
8. Website: as more people become web savvy, the Hwacheon website will
become the front line to our image and reputation. These ideas will help us
on a new design that will help introduce new customers, keep existing
customers and education dealer sales. Dollar amount not determined.

Hwacheon must take control of lead generation and tracking of

10. VIII. Exhibitions Shows
1. Eastec- May 20-22. Methods will be having an open house during
this time. We must attend and support.
2. Westec-March 31-April3. We are in current plan process.
i. Booth layout needs to be completed
ii. Do we send 10,000 rpm machine
iii. What dealers will pay for show
iv. Promotions before the show need to be completed.
v. A live display on M2 machine will need to be considered.
vi. Lead collection should be essential
vii. Mailing and advertising will be in Modern Machine Shop and
Manufacturing news.
3. IMTS- Current a project management plan will be put into place in
December to organize the booth. Booth size remains the same. A
budget needs to be set. I estimate $200,000 to included new
display, pre show advertising, pre show promotion, set up, rigging
tear down.
a. We should consider live interactive shows that attract
customers. Cutting parts. Samples helps customer remember
the machine.
b. Involve accessory demonstrations at show: i.e. Pallet change,
indexer, bar feeder etc to show how a complete machine can
be used.
c. Need to track and consider leads retention for database
