2. INTRODUCTION
▪ One of the project aims is to raise awareness about environmental
problems, such as air pollution at schools and homes. It is important
to be proactive, so we decided to take some action and improve
indoor environmental quality.
▪ That is the reason why the school Eco group have made some
cleaning agents and give workshops for other students.
▪ Beyond the health benefits (breathing cleaner air and minimizing
exposure to potentialy toxic chemicals), non-toxic cleaning agents
can help us to protect the environment and save money.

SOAP MAKING PROCESS
▪ Cut the soap base into chips.Melt the soap base. You can do this in a microwave
oven or melt it over steam on a stove. Heat up the soap base for about half a
minute until it melts completely (do not heat it above 70°C – it must not start
steaming).
▪ Mix a few drops of glycerine dye(colour) in a small with a little water before
adding it to the melted base. Mix well so the dye dissolves completely and all the
clumps are gone.
▪ Add drop by drop of thinned dye until you get the desired shade and 2-5 drops of
essential oil. Add the fragrance (no more than 2% of the amount of the soap
base). Only use ingredients intended for cosmetics or eating! Stir until the
fragrance is completely blended
▪ Spray the mold with a little alcohol before you pour in the prepared base.
▪ Pour the prepared soap base into your soap mold.
▪ Make sure you spray the surface with alcohol to make all the bubbles disappear.
▪ After about an hour (depending on the size of the mold), when the soap has
hardened completely, take it out of the mold and make sure you wrap it up into
transparent cling film.
