This document provides an overview for a course design project that enhances an existing course through technology integration. It outlines sections for describing the course, students' needs, learning outcomes, assessments, activities, choice of technology, considerations regarding the technology, and how the design is innovative. The goal is for instructors to thoughtfully select a technology to facilitate authentic learning and address 21st century skills, while also addressing any practical issues.
3. Course overview
Choose a class that you already teach and that you would like to enhance through the integration of
technology. Consider the generational differences dealt with in the first module that may affect your
teaching. Write a brief description of the course.
4. Students’ needs
Consider your philosophy of teaching and the goals for 21st century students dealt with in the second
module. Write a brief description of the needs you want to address and the reasons why you have
selected them.
5. Design
Choose a Learning Outcome. Keep it short and to the point.
Assessments. Describe how you will measure students’ achievement of the selected learning outcome
Activities. Which activities will directly support the achievement of this learning outcome?
6. Technology I
Choose a technology that will effectively facilitate the activity, is readily accessible for yourself and
your students, and you can support technically. Consider module 3 for this. Give your reasons.
What benefits for yourself as a teacher and for your students do you expect?
7. Technology II
Considerations. Are there any implications or issues related to the activities or technologies selected
from a pedagogical, technical or practical perspective? (cost, approval from superiors, time to teach
students how to use the technology, privacy, etc.) How will you evaluate the resources?
Solutions. What strategies will you employ to overcome any potential issues, or to whom could you
turn to for help?
8. Innovation
Is your design innovative? Does it reflect inductive teaching and authentic learning? Is technology
integrated from a transformational perspective? In what ways? How will you share your work as an
inspiration to others?
