3. Motivation for an eeOntology Catalogue
• Facilitate ontology reuse
– There are many ontologies (and other resources) useful to
describe energy and cross-domain data
• One place to discover ontologies
– It is not trivial to find them
• Specific for energy efficiency and smart cities
– Search engines and ontology registries are too general or
off-topic (biology, environment, etc.)
• Ontology assessment
– The quality of ontologies in the Web is unknown

4. GOALS
• Minimal effort from the community using a web form
– Automatic process for generating a catalogue
• To collect eeModels:
– Ontologies: rdf-s, OWL, skos
– Other type of models: pdf, xml, uml, etc.
• Semi-automatic quality assessment
– Curated metadata
– Ontology evaluation

8. Semi-automatic quality assessment
• Manual metadata curation by UPM
• Manual assessment indicators:
– Is the ontology available following the W3C
standards (SKOS, RDF-S or OWL)?
– Is the ontology available under an open license?
• Automatic assessment:
– Is the ontology available on the Web (whatever
format)?

9. Conclusions
• Online eeOntology catalogue
– Curated metadata
– Evaluated ontologies
• Transparent process for contributors
– 15-30 minutes to fill in the web form

10. Future work
• Online eeOntology catalogue
– To collect the relevant ontologies
– To include evaluation features
• OOPS! - OntOtology Pitfall Scanner -
http://www.oeg-upm.net/oops/
• Online eeModel catalogue
– To create a web form for gathering eeModels
– To collect relevant eeModels
