This document discusses Ayurvedic concepts of health, disease, and immunity. It defines a healthy person according to Ayurveda as one who has balanced doshas, agni, dhatus, and bodily processes. It explains that disease can arise from imbalanced doshas due to one's prakruti or from karma. Maintaining proper digestion, eating the right foods for one's body and season, and following a regular lifestyle can help boost immunity and prevent disease according to Ayurvedic principles. The document provides recommendations for enhancing immunity through rasayana, exercise, and following satmya or what is suitable for one's constitution.

“One who has balanced doshas (bio-energies),
balanced agni (metabolic processes), properly
formed dhatus (tissues), proper elimination
of malas (wastes), well functioning bodily
processes, who is established in Self and whose
mind, soul and senses are full of bliss, is called a
healthy person.”
4. WHO – HEALTH
DEFINATION
Surprisingly World Health Organization (W.H.O.)
Concept Of Health Which Is Read As
&8220;Health Is A State Of Complete Physical,
Mental & Social Well Being And Not Merely The
Absence Of Disease Or Infirmity&8221; Is Almost
Same As Defined In Ayurveda Which Reflects
Richness Of India’s Native Wisdom In Health And
Medicine I.e. Ayurveda, Science Of Life.
7. WHO IS DISEASED
According to the tridosha theory, each individual must have the proper
balance of the three basic forces of vata, pitta and kapha. But this is not
always possible. Each individual’s prakruthi (nature of constitution) is
determined at the time of birth. It depends on the prakruthi of the parents
and the state of their mind at the time of conception, etc. If one dosha is
predominant in a person, then that imbalance results in certain kinds of
susceptibilities. It can be aggravated by improper habits and diet. Then
the person is ill. This can be treated by medication.
The second possibility for falling ill, according to ayurveda, cannot be
analyzed on material terms. The karma (the merits and demerits of
actions of the past birth) that an individual has accrued is responsible for
this. Karmic diseases require atonement or some qualitative change from
within.
11. VERY COMMON
MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE

19. CONCEPT OF IMMUNITY
It can be observed that among a group of people
exposed to a given disease, only some will be
afflicted, while others are left without any effect.
This phenomenon itself illustrates two important
points -- that the pathogenic factors require some
essential favorable conditions to flourish and that
the individual is susceptible to the disease. In the
absence of such conditions, an individual’s
immunity or resistance can eradicate the disease,
preserving and maintaining a balanced condition.
20. CONCEPT OF IMMUNITY
In Ayurveda, Ojas has been considered vital
in the defense mechanism of the body. In
conditions like diabetes mellitus and
malnutrition, where loss of Ojas is a constant
feature, people are known to be susceptible to
various other interrelated and degenerative
diseases or recurrent infections.
21. CONCEPT OF IMMUNITY
As a general rule, those who indulge in an
irregular routine and eat unwholesome food
tend to suffer ill health.
Conversely, those who maintain a regular,
healthy routine and take wholesome food
generally maintain good health.
22. CONCEPT OF IMMUNITY
However, it can be observed that some people
can tolerate and overcome disease even after
indulging in irregular routine and unwholesome
food, managing to live healthily and happily. It can
also be noted that though some people follow a
regular routine and eat wholesome food, they are
still susceptible to disease and suffer ill health.
These are unanswered questions that are worthy
of investigation and analysis.
23. AYURVEDA EXPLANE
Intake of wholesome food and a regular routine
alone are not enough to prevent disease.
Additional factors such as mistaken intellect(
Pragyapradh), constitution, moral conduct, karma
and unsuitable contact of sensory perceptions like
sound, touch, vision, taste and smell are also
responsible for the onset of disease. Due to these
factors, diseases manifest as mild or severe,
acute or chronic, easily curable or difficult to
cure/incurable.
24. TYPE OF IMMUNITY
1. Sahaja: Congenital or
Natural
2. Kalaja: Time, Season, Age
3. Yuktikruta: Acquired
26. Rasayana
1. Rasayana is health promoting and
rejuvenates the whole physiology, producing
resistance against disease both physically
and mentally. If a person has a strong mind,
even serious diseases can be faced by the
physiology as minor diseases.
27. Vyayama
2. Vyayama is exercise. Daily exercise of up
to 50% of one’s exertion capacity enhances
digestion, strengthens tissue metabolism and
promotes immunity.
28. Satmya
Satmya is suitability. Adapting to wholesome
substances and giving up unwholesome
substances, to which the physiology has been
addicted since birth, also promotes immunity.
30. Universally Beneficial:
Certain herbs, foods and behavior are
beneficial for everyone, regardless of
constitution, location, season or condition.
Examples include water, rice, sleeping at
night and moderate exercise.
31. Universally Harmful:
Certain substances are considered harmful to
everyone, including fire, alkalis, toxins,
poison, mixing milk with sour foods, mixing
milk and salt, honey and radish, honey and
ghee mixed together in equal proportions,
honey heated beyond 108° Fahrenheit.
32. Beneficial or Harmful:
Some foods and exercises are good for one
particular constitution but may be harmful for
another. For example, ghee is good for Vata
and Pitta constitution, but not for Kapha.
33. OTHER FACTOR OF IMMUNITY
Uterine health of mother
Constitution
Mind
Karma
Meditation
34. Uterine health of mother
Uterine health of mother: A
healthy uterus for a baby’s
growth can be likened to
fertile and nourishing soil
for a seed.
36. Mind
A strong mind oriented toward positive
thinking increases one’s Ojas and therefore is
a major factor in one’s immunity.
37. Karma
Karma: In cases where an individual has a
strong and healthy constitution, healthy
genetic makeup, and lives in accordance with
nature through intake of wholesome foods
and regular routine, yet still succumbs to a
severe illness, subtle karmic factors may
reveal themselves as having a prominent
impact on immunity.
38. Meditation for spiritual growth
Meditation is continuous thought on one
subject. Orienting the mind towards spirituality
naturally brings about greater self-awareness
and positive thinking, thereby enhancing
mental strength and overall immunity.
39. 7 STEPS TO INCREASE
OJAS
EAT FRESH VEGITABLES
COOK WITH IMMUNITY BOOSTING SPICES
EAT IMMUNITY BOOSTING FOODS
COOK YOUR FOOD BUT NOT TOO MUCH
EAT AT PROPER TIME
EAT THE PROPER QUANTITY
CHOOSE FOOD FOR YOUR BODY TYPE
AND SEASON.
40. IMMUNITY SPICE MIX
6 parts turmeric ( Haldi)
3 parts ground cumin( Jeera)
3 parts ground coriander( Dhania)
6 parts ground fennel ( Saunf)
1 part powdered, dry ginger ( saunth)
1 part ground black pepper (Kali Mirch)
1/4 part ground cinnamon ( Dalchini)
41. HOW TO USE SPICE MIX
Mix the spices together well.
Heat one teaspoon of the spice mixture in
one tablespoon of ghee, using medium-high
heat, until the mixture releases an aroma.
Remove from the heat immediately so it won't
burn.
Add this spiced ghee to cooked rice,
vegetables, or other foods.
42. OJAS = IMMUNITY
Ojas is the end product of complete digestion that
creates
radiant good health,
stable emotions, and
immunity.
Ama, the digestive impurities caused by eating
hard-to-digest foods or by unhealthy eating habits,
creates the opposite effect--it compromises
immunity and health.
