2. Introduction
ATMA scheme was launched during 2005 – 06.
ATMA has active participation of farmers/farmers groups,
NGOs ,KVKs, Panchayati raj institution and other state
holders operating and district level.
ATMA is a society of keep state holders in agricultural
activities for sustainable agricultural development in the
district.
It is a registered society responsible for technology
dissemination at the district level.
3. OBJECTIVES
To strengthen research extension farmer linkages.
To provide an effective mechanism for co-ordination and
management of activities of different agencies involved in
technology adoption / validation and dissemination at the district
level and below.
The increase the quality and type of technologies being
dissemination .
To move towards shared ownership of the agricultural
technology system by key shareholders.
To develop new partnerships with the private institutions
including NGO.

Creating farmer advisory committee to improve feed back .
Using NGO`s to organize farmers.
Encouraging private sector involvement in technology
transfer.
Validation and refining technologies through research units
in the district.

6. Funding of ATMA
• The scheme is supported the central government .
• The funding pattern is 90 % by the central government and 10
% by the state government .
• The 10 % states share shall consist of cash contribution of the
state, beneficiary contribution or the contribution of other non
– governmental organizations.

8. Activities of ATMA
Farmers training programme: Farmers training programme are
scheduled within the district, within the states and outside the state, either in the
extension education institutes or in the research stations for benefit of the farmers.
ATMA provides an amount of Rs. 1000/- per farmer for 10 days outside the state
and Rs. 750/- per farmer within the state.
Rs. 400/- is provided to each farmer within the district for 5 days training
programme.
Organization of demonstration plots: Demonstration on various
aspects indicating the gaps identified in that area and strategies to be adopted to
overcome the deficit. Examples include Zn deficiency, salinity problems etc.

9. Field demonstrations and front line
demonstrations: Institutes like KVK, soil testing lab are
entrusted with the job organizing Field demonstrations and front
line demonstrations duly providing the required budget of
ATMA.
Transfer of technology: This is being done from farmer
to farmer to create awareness among the farmers on the newly
introduced technologies in agricultural and allied fields.
10. Exposure visits: These visits are planned within the
district for 1 day, within the states and outside state for 10
days to the place where improved agricultural practices and
also other activities are taken up by the allied departments.
Capacity building and skills development programmes:
Several farmers groups likes CIG, FIG, DWCRA groups,
farmer cooperative societies and allied institutions are
selected for imparting Capacity building and skills
development programmes. An amount of Rs. 5000/- is
provided each group.
11. Awards to farmers: Every years 5 groups which have
performed outsiding activities in produced valuable results in
agricultural and allied field are selected and an amount of Rs.
20000/- is provided to each group as an award.
Farmer Field Schools: These farmers schools are
arranged considering the local needs of the farmers on priority
and training programmes are organized on each item.
