Introduction
• The introduction of computers was the basis of this
revolution and with the passage of time, but with the
increasing use of smart-phones, tablets, etc. these
devices now have an importance place in the classrooms
for learning.
• Books are gradually getting replaced by electronic
educational materials like optical discs or pen drives.
• The online learning style is best suited for all E-learning
has made education easy for every one including office
goes, housewives etc… without compromising much.
Knowledge can also be shared via the Internet, which is
accessible 24x7x365, anywhere, anytime.
• A learning system based on formalized teaching
but with the help of electronic resource is known
as e-learning. While teaching can be based on in
or out of the classrooms, the use of computers
and the internet forms the major component of
e-learning. E-learning can also be termed as a
network enabled transfer of skills and knowledge,
and the delivery of education is made to a large
number of recipients at the same or different
times. Earlier, it was assumed that this system
lacked the human element required in learning.
• E-learning courses provide an enabling platform by
virtue of which the professionals can upgrade their
knowledge without going for regular courses.
• It is a store house of education, information,
communication, training, knowledge and performance
management.
Concept
• E-learning concept strongly correlated to the use of
computer and internet.
• To bridge this gap the concepts of e-learning has
become the part of effective education
• E-learning is a broader concept than online learning
encompassing a wide set of applications and processes.
which use all available electronic media to deliver
vocational education & training more flexibly.
• e- learning application and processes include Web based
learning , virtual class rooms and digital collaboration.
• The general intent to support a broad range of
electronic media ( internet, intranets, extranets,
satellite broadcast , audio/ video tap, interactive T.V
and CD ROM) to make vocational learning flexible for
client .
• e-learning applies to all levels of schooling to ensure
students grasp the lessons adequately .
• Psychologists believe that audio- visual method of
teaching creates a disciplined learning environment &
faster effective student engagement in the class.
• Future trends are looking at training delivered on
smart cell phones.
Meaning and Definitions &
• A learning system based on formalized teaching but with
the help of electronic resources is known as E-learning.
• In 1963 Bernard Luskin installed the first computer in a
community college for instruction as computer assisted
instruction.
• E-Learning is the learning facilitated and supported by
Information Communication technologies (ICT) to enable
people to learn anytime and anywhere.
• E-learning is nothing but the use of technology to
connect teachers and students who are physically miles
apart.
• E-Learning involves the use of multi-media to enhance
learning.
• E-Learning can include training, the delivery of just-in-
time information and guidance from experts.
• While teaching can be based in or out of the classrooms,
the use of computers and the Internet forms the major
component of E-learning.
• Mare Rosenberge(2001) - confines e-learning to the
internet as: the use of internet technologies to deliver
a board of array of solution that enhance knowledge
and performance.
• Allison Rossett (2001) - defines E-learning as: web
based training (WBT) also known as leaning , is training
that resides on a server or host computer that is
connected to the world wide web.
• Elliott Masie - “The use of technology to design,
deliver, select, administer, support and extended
learning.
• Percepsys – “Using a technological means to access and
man-age learning that supports and enhances the
knowledge of an individual. e-learning has become the
way to conduct training or to provide education.
• Darin E. Hartley (2001) – “Teaching & learning process by
using internet media, intranet & other computer network
in order to give the material to the students.
• Matt Comerchero –”e-learning is a means of education
that incorporates self motivation, communication,
efficiency& technology.
Types
1. Synchronous
2. Asynchronous
3. Web based learning
4. Blended
• Synchronous e- learning – this is where there is a
trainer or facilitator online at the same time as the
learners. Learners can, there for interact with the
other learners and the trainer through chat audio
conferencing, & or video conferencing. This is similar
to classrooms based learning, although individuals
are not in the same physical location.
Examples include :
• Listening to a live radio broadcast
• Watching live a television broadcast
• Audio- video conferencing
• Online lectures
• Asynchronous e-learning- this is where there is no
trainer or facilitator involved with the learner. Instead,
the learner progresses through the course or material
independently there may be features that enable
interactivity, such as asking a question or communicating
with other learners , but they are not in real time.
Examples includes
• Self paced courses taken via internet or CD- ROM
• Videotaped classes
• Stored audio-video web presentations or seminars
• Web based learning- is associated with learning
materials delivered in a web browser, including when
the materials are packaged on CD- ROM or other media.
Disk .
• Blended learning- Blended learning combines e-learning
tools with traditional classrooms learning to ensure
maximum effectiveness.
Examples included
• Face to face interaction there by leading to social
benefits.
• Personalized system of instruction which requires
minimum interaction.
Advantages
• E-learning is effective and powerful it makes information
easy to grasp and absorb .it imparts enhanced ability to
learn and implement among the learners. The audio
visuals help in remembering knowledge for an longer
time.
• E-learning let you be in sync with the current too needs.
• It is quick way of learning compare to traditional classes.
Computer enhance learning.
• It is about information, communication, education&
teaching.
• Encourages sharing.
• Promotes students retention& learning. Self learning.
• Easy to use easy course teaching.
• Easy & update information.
• Flexible, convenient accessibility.
• Cost: reducing training costs.
• Content: increasing the scope of offerings.
• Speed: responcing to constant change and rapid product
innovations.
• Access : making training more available to learners.
• Helping to enhance knowledge & performance.
• Relevance : making training more meaningful to people’s
work.
• Efficiency : avoiding scheduling of classroom training and
booking instructors.
• Empowerment: putting the responsibility for learning in
the hands of learners.
• Business : using fast , effective learning as a competitive
weapon.
• Convenience : letting time-pressured students learn at
the best time and place.
• Lectures can be taken at any time &any number of times
• In traditional classes, revisions are not that easy. Unlike
traditional learning if you have missed any lesson you can
always have it online.
• E- learning is cost- effective as this method quick and
easy. Long trained period, infrastructure, stationary,
travel expenses etc is reduced. It is a benefactor to
those who feels nervous and disconnected in groups. It
helps you learn without heaving to give up the comforts
of the environment you are at easy with.
• Provides for self directed individualized & self paced
learning.
• Provides interacting learning.
• Provides end out of classroom.
• Global delivery of learning.
• Connects to the real world
• Catches students attention
Limitations
• The process undoubtedly has its limitations
• Computer literacy and access to equipment any e-
learning system literacy basic equipment and a
minimum level of computer knowledge to option with
the system.
• some topics are not appropriate for e-learning certain
subjects like sports cannot be explained through E-
learning .
• The Students themselves can be a limitations E-learning
: the E-learning has flexibility &student central nature so
the student meet be well organized self-motivated.
• &have good him management skills success of e-
learning program depends upon amount of effort put in
by the student
• Limited access to a computer as well as the Internet.
• Required computer skills especially for beginners.
Bandwidth limitations: lower bandwidth means slower
performance for sound radio and intensive graphics
causing long waits for download
• Loss of human contact : feeling that they communicate
largely with a machine rather than other human beings.
• Missing social contact.
• E-learning system will replace the friendly face
• E-learning programs are too static level of interaction is
too limited
• Development &lost: E-learning system take more money
to development than expected.
• More time and more money
• Lack of motivation.
Conclusion
• Present situations live classes are not available
to people they are facing many problems.
• If they get live classes ,at the same time good
lecturer is not available for their convenient
time.
• At last they get good lecturer/trainer they do
not have time to attend the live classes.
• To avoid all those things students under goes
e-learning .

  • 11. • Mare Rosenberge(2001) - confines e-learning to the internet as: the use of internet technologies to deliver a board of array of solution that enhance knowledge and performance. • Allison Rossett (2001) - defines E-learning as: web based training (WBT) also known as leaning , is training that resides on a server or host computer that is connected to the world wide web. • Elliott Masie - “The use of technology to design, deliver, select, administer, support and extended learning.
  • 12. • Percepsys – “Using a technological means to access and man-age learning that supports and enhances the knowledge of an individual. e-learning has become the way to conduct training or to provide education. • Darin E. Hartley (2001) – “Teaching & learning process by using internet media, intranet & other computer network in order to give the material to the students. • Matt Comerchero –”e-learning is a means of education that incorporates self motivation, communication, efficiency& technology.
  • 13. Types 1. Synchronous 2. Asynchronous 3. Web based learning 4. Blended
  • 14. • Synchronous e- learning – this is where there is a trainer or facilitator online at the same time as the learners. Learners can, there for interact with the other learners and the trainer through chat audio conferencing, & or video conferencing. This is similar to classrooms based learning, although individuals are not in the same physical location. Examples include : • Listening to a live radio broadcast • Watching live a television broadcast • Audio- video conferencing • Online lectures
  • 15. • Asynchronous e-learning- this is where there is no trainer or facilitator involved with the learner. Instead, the learner progresses through the course or material independently there may be features that enable interactivity, such as asking a question or communicating with other learners , but they are not in real time. Examples includes • Self paced courses taken via internet or CD- ROM • Videotaped classes • Stored audio-video web presentations or seminars
  • 16.
  • 17. • Web based learning- is associated with learning materials delivered in a web browser, including when the materials are packaged on CD- ROM or other media. Disk . • Blended learning- Blended learning combines e-learning tools with traditional classrooms learning to ensure maximum effectiveness. Examples included • Face to face interaction there by leading to social benefits. • Personalized system of instruction which requires minimum interaction.
  • 18. Advantages • E-learning is effective and powerful it makes information easy to grasp and absorb .it imparts enhanced ability to learn and implement among the learners. The audio visuals help in remembering knowledge for an longer time. • E-learning let you be in sync with the current too needs. • It is quick way of learning compare to traditional classes. Computer enhance learning. • It is about information, communication, education& teaching. • Encourages sharing.
  • 19. • Promotes students retention& learning. Self learning. • Easy to use easy course teaching. • Easy & update information. • Flexible, convenient accessibility. • Cost: reducing training costs. • Content: increasing the scope of offerings. • Speed: responcing to constant change and rapid product innovations. • Access : making training more available to learners. • Helping to enhance knowledge & performance. • Relevance : making training more meaningful to people’s work.
  • 20. • Efficiency : avoiding scheduling of classroom training and booking instructors. • Empowerment: putting the responsibility for learning in the hands of learners. • Business : using fast , effective learning as a competitive weapon. • Convenience : letting time-pressured students learn at the best time and place. • Lectures can be taken at any time &any number of times • In traditional classes, revisions are not that easy. Unlike traditional learning if you have missed any lesson you can always have it online.
  • 21. • E- learning is cost- effective as this method quick and easy. Long trained period, infrastructure, stationary, travel expenses etc is reduced. It is a benefactor to those who feels nervous and disconnected in groups. It helps you learn without heaving to give up the comforts of the environment you are at easy with. • Provides for self directed individualized & self paced learning. • Provides interacting learning. • Provides end out of classroom. • Global delivery of learning. • Connects to the real world • Catches students attention
  • 22.
  • 23. Limitations • The process undoubtedly has its limitations • Computer literacy and access to equipment any e- learning system literacy basic equipment and a minimum level of computer knowledge to option with the system. • some topics are not appropriate for e-learning certain subjects like sports cannot be explained through E- learning . • The Students themselves can be a limitations E-learning : the E-learning has flexibility &student central nature so the student meet be well organized self-motivated.
  • 24. • &have good him management skills success of e- learning program depends upon amount of effort put in by the student • Limited access to a computer as well as the Internet. • Required computer skills especially for beginners. Bandwidth limitations: lower bandwidth means slower performance for sound radio and intensive graphics causing long waits for download • Loss of human contact : feeling that they communicate largely with a machine rather than other human beings.
  • 25. • Missing social contact. • E-learning system will replace the friendly face • E-learning programs are too static level of interaction is too limited • Development &lost: E-learning system take more money to development than expected. • More time and more money • Lack of motivation.
  • 26. Conclusion • Present situations live classes are not available to people they are facing many problems. • If they get live classes ,at the same time good lecturer is not available for their convenient time. • At last they get good lecturer/trainer they do not have time to attend the live classes. • To avoid all those things students under goes e-learning .
