1. Whilst I was planning and researching, I used a variety of different programs that helped me develop my research and also
helped my to present my findings and work onto my blog.
2. To research for documentaries that were in my genre, I got a lot of my help from the internet and a variety of websites such as
Channel 4 and BBC Iplayer. Google also proved to be very useful whilst I was undergoing my research, I was able to obtain
more useful information about the documentaries I have watched like Educating Essex. Also the internet on my phone was very
useful when I needed it, whenever I didn’t have access to a computer I could continue my research while traveling, I could also
download certain apps such as YouTube and the Channel 4 app and then continue to watch documentaries which I would
analyses later on.
I would also look at previous students blogs and got a lot of ideas from their work which was similar to my own. I would look at
what they have done for their research, make note of it as it was relevant information for my research
3. As a class we used the website Blogger to hold all of our coursework together in one place and to also analyze our own work as
we went along. Blogger was really good as it was easy to use and to keep track of our progress as we went on. With blogger
you could make your blog personalized which was a great aspect as you were able to design it however you wanted which
made everyone's work individual. Blogger was also really useful to embed pictures, videos and presentations from other
software that we have used.
4. I did find that Microsoft was really useful as it was really easy and simple to access, I mainly used PowerPoint to present my
work and to analyze different aspects of my documentary like the costumes, location and setting.
I also used Microsoft Word in order to type up my script for my documentary, I was going to use this as a guideline on how my
documentary was going to be set up. This helped me to put my documentary into perspective.
5. My mobile phone assisted me with my research and planning as it was really good at helping me with organization and meeting
up with my group and making plans for what needs to be done in our documentary and simulating everyone's ideas.
Also by using my phone, I was able to take pictures of good quality of location, people in the background and cast, I could then
send the images to the Mac Computer through Bluetooth/Airdrop.
6. I used the camera on my phone which had great quality image, I think however it would have been better to use a professional
camera as it would have better quality. However I did not own a camera like that nor could I afford it, the best thing about using
my phone was that it was always on me and really easy to use.
7. I then used Adobe Suite-Photoshop to manipulate and edit the images to produce both a poster and DSP. Photoshop was more
of a professional software to edit the images to create such a professional looking outcome. Photoshop was a program that was
in frequent use in the stages of the project, it was created for particularly creative formats. This made it a great asset for the
ancillary task I had to complete for my coursework
8. By using Photoshop, only allowed me to
develop my products from being a basic piece
of image to a sophisticated piece of work.
Photoshop has a wider variety of resources
than Microsoft Publisher because I was able to
refine my work properly and in more detail and
I was able to make it look good enough for a
publishable standard. I have progressed
massively from my first drafts, this was due to
the time and care I have put into making the
poster and DPS but also due to the audience
feedback I was given. I believe that my final
product looks professional and sophisticated
9. For my documentary construction process, I used the Apple Mac to operate various software. Similar to my ancillary
construction I used my IPhone camera to film my documentary. After filming, I would upload my footage onto a memory stick
which I could then transfer to and from the Mac.
I used IMovie as the editing software as it was very basic and very simple to use. I found out that working on IMovie because of
how simple it is didn’t have as good as music, sound effects or transition effects.
10. For my evaluation, it is important that I use a different variety of media technologies to analyze and answer each question.I
used PowerPoint which I then uploaded to Slideshare. Both of these resources where very easy to access and use, although
Slideshare does involve setting up an account which again was very easy to do.
