2. Coronet Foods Pvt Limited
Introduction:
Our instructor, Dr. Ayaz, organized for us an industrial tour of Hattar
Industrial Estate. Our class visited Coronet Foods Pvt Limited, a food
manufacturing company linked to EBM (English Biscuit Manufacturer)
on Tuesday, 5th April,2022.
About The Company:
The company is primarily based in Karachi, but also has a plant in
Hattar (CFL). The company has been in business for more than 50
years and has worldwide sales exceeding 22 billion rupees. Over
60% of Pakistan's biscuit market belongs to Coronet Foods. Its
products are also exported to the UK, the USA, and Canada, as
well as the Middle East and Africa.
EBM brands include ;
• Butter Puff, Peanut Pik, Gluco, Rio, Chocolate Sandwich, Lemon
Sandwich, Party, Sooper and the list goes on.
Operations At the Site:
At 9:37 a.m we left the main entrance of the university for our
destination
3. and entered through the gate 4 of the venture at 10:10 a.m. We were
taken to a sitting hall and given a brief lecture about CFLs and hazards
on the site.
As part of the tour, we were also given instructions from the safety
officer, Sir Yasir Rehman, which were about the "Do's and Don’ts" of
the plant.
Following are some of them:
• No smoking
• No photography or use of mobile phones
• Proper parking, entrance and exit
• Environmental health and safety
Visiting the manufacturing plants:
Then after ensuring certain safety measures, we were taken to the
inside of the plant where all of the practical work, i.e: manufacturing of
biscuits, was being done. We have visited
The whole strength of students was divided into groups and taken
around the whole plant. Their was one guide with each group who
explained to the students the whole process of biscuit-making and the
working of all the machinery at the plant.
Our guide told us that there were more over 2800 employees working
over there. The mind blowing fact was that over 45,000 cartons of
biscuits were being made and delivered from the CFL to all over
Pakistan per day though the brand depended on the demand of each
biscuit brand per day.
The products of the CFL are delivered across the whole country on daily
basis from Hattar.
4. We were also told about and even shown the whole process of dough
making, baking, packaging etc. The most appreciable and noticeable
thing for me was the very hygienic working environment at the plant.
Another thing that got my attention was that all the safety measures
and protocols were being strictly followed at the site.
Conclusion:
The visit was really informative, enjoyable and successful. It gave the
students a practical experience and overview of the commercial world
and how certain analogies work. It also gave us an insider of
entrepreneurial mindset and the lesson that how strong will power to
achieve your goals combined with a great deal of hard work can give
you the most astonishing successes in life.
