• Written with the purposes of entertaining, gaining, hold of
readers’ interests, informing readers, and others
• Stories, ballads, myths and legends, personal experiences
such as anecdotes, biographies, autobiographies

• Aim to give information and to provide description
• Logical arrangement of ideas
• Description, problem and solution, enumerative or listing,
sequence, comparison and contrast, and cause and effect

4. 3. EXPLANATION TEXT
• A process on how or why something happens
• Describe ideas according to step-by step process or
procedures
• Flowcharts and diagrams in presenting the ideas in its
content

5. 4. PERSUASIVE TEXT
• Take a certain opinion or perform a certain action
• Aims to encourage the readers to do and perform something
• Writers use capital letters, exclamation marks, and even
repeated words to catch the attention of the readers
