THE ART OF MIXING DRINKS
METHODS OF MIXING/ PREPARING DRINKS
1. BUILD -THIS MEANS TO POUR THE NECESSARY INGREDIENTS INTO A
SUITABLE GLASS WITHOUT ANY PREMIXING , ADDING INGREDIENTS
ONE AT A TIME.
2. STIR THIS MEANS TO MIX THE NECESSARY INGREDIENTS TOGETHER
BY STIRRING BRISKLY WITH ICE IN A GLASS( MIXING GLASS) AND
THEN STRAINING IT INTO A GLASS.
3. SHAKE- THIS MEANS POURING ALL NECESSARY INGREDIENTS INTO A
COCKTAIL SHAKER WITH ICE THEN SHAKING IT BRISKLY FOR FEW
SECONDS. AFTER SHAKING THE DRINK IS STRAINED INTO THE
REQUIRED GLASS.
• BLEND- BY BLENDING ALL THE NECESSARY INGREDIENTS ARE POURED
OVER AN ELECTRIC BLENDER. ALONG WITH CRUSHED ICE.
• A COCKTAIL IS A TYPE OF MIXED DRINK, IT CONSISTS OF BASE
LIQUOR, A MODIFYING INGREDIENTS AND A SPECIAL FLAVORING OR
COLORING AGENT.
COMPONENTS OF A COCKTAIL
• 1. THE BASE LIQUOR WHICH USUALLY CONSISTS OF SPIRIT, GIN,
VODKA, TEQUILLA, RUM AND SOME WINES
• 2. THE MODIFYING INGREDIENTS INCLUDE LIQUERS, BITTERS, SYRUP
JUICE, MILK , CREAM AND OTHER MIXES LIKE SODA , TONIC WATER
GINGER ALE LEMONADE AND COLAS.
• FLAVORING OR COLORING AGENT COMPLEMENTS THE MODIFYING
AGENT. AMONG THESE ARE SYRUPS, EGGS ALMOND EXTRACT AND
ETC. THEY ARE USUALLY USED IN MINIMAL AMOUNT
• A GARNISH ENHANCE THE PRESENTATION OF THE DRINK. AMONG
THE ONES USED ARE SLICED OF FRUIT CLIPPED ON THE RIM OF THE
GLASS.
