DINOSAURS UNEARTHED
On display through May 1, 2011
MNS’ Science Building (1318 S. 2nd Ave. in Fair Park)

A global exhibit now features fossils from your own back yard! The immensely popular
Dinosaurs Unearthed traveling exhibit not only features life-size, animatronic dinosarus – we’ve
added fossils and artifacts that were discovered in or are representative of the Lone Star State.

Dinosaurs Unearthed features a gallery full of life-size, animatronic dinosaurs that seemingly
come to life – they roar, move their arms, crane their necks, blink their eyes and recreate the
Jurassic Period as never before. The replicas of Dinosaurs Unearthed also represent the very
latest fossil findings – and could completely reverse “conventional wisdom” about dinosaurs!

This exhibit also showcases:
   • The world's largest and most advanced animatronic dinosaurs – some of which visitors
       can control
   • 10 life-size, adult dinosaur robots, five juvenile-sized replicas, 20 huge fossils and several
full-scale articulated skeletons and skeletal parts
   • First exhibit in the world to feature life-sized, feather-covered dinosaur models
   • A dinosaur dig that lets visitors become amateur paleontologists and unearth the fossils
that remained long after the dinosaurs disappeared
   • Video games and activities on touch-screen kiosks

PLANETARIUM SHOWS
Planetarium Building (1620 First Ave. in Fair Park)

The seasons are changing, so it’s a perfect time to learn all the beautiful names for those bright
constellations in the sky. And MNS will offer shows for the President’s Day holiday on Monday,
February 21. Planetarium shows include:

Universe gives an historical look at how we have envisioned the universe though the ages. We
visit some of the ancient sites where our ancestors erected great structures with special
astronomical significance. Finally we look at the Universe through the eyes of today's science
and space explorers to build up a spectacular overview of the heavens.

Wonders of the Universe peers deep into space through the eyes of the orbiting Hubble Space
Telescope and travels back billions of years in time to witness the birth of the universe. On this
breathtaking excursion you'll witness the formation of galaxies and explore some of the most
wondrous nebulae and astronomical structures yet discovered. As your travels continue, you'll
fly deep into our own Milky Way galaxy and return home to Earth on a spectacular tour
   through the solar system.
Texas Night Sky is an informal, narrated introduction to the wonders of the sky featuring a
view as it may appear tonight in your own backyard. Learn which planets, stars, and
constellations are currently visible, the unique stories behind their names, and tips on how to
locate them in the night sky. As night-time views change as the calendar changes, so do our
   shows!

Secrets of the Sun allows audiences to experience an intimate look at the role the sun plays in
the life of our Solar System. From the nuclear forces churning at the heart of the sun to the
mass ejections of solar material into the surrounding space, we will experience the power of the
sun and its impact on the planets and ultimately life on Earth. We will trace the life cycle of the
sun itself, going back to its beginnings and moving forward in time to its eventual death.

Cosmic Safari The search for life in the universe begins as we travel to yet undiscovered
planets in the far reaches of space. In differing environmental conditions, you'll discover what
living creatures might look like on worlds very different from our own. From the giant insect-
like life forms on low-gravity planets, to the highly muscular star-shaped creatures on high-
gravity worlds, Cosmic Safari transforms scientific theory into exotic worlds filled with
   fantastic creatures never before imagined.

Showtimes and advance tickets for the Planetarium are available online.
