American BuffaloAmerican Buffalo
• Features the same design as the “Indian Head” nickel,
which was minted from 1913 to 1938.
• One of the purest gold bullion coins – 99.99% pure
gold.
• Comes in one size: 1ozt.

Gold NuggetGold Nugget
• This Australian bullion coin’s design originally
featured depictions of Australian gold nuggets that
changed every year.
– Australia has a rich history of gold rushes.
• The coin now features different kangaroo designs
every year.
– These iterations are occasionally referred to as “gold
kangaroos”
• Sizes available: 1/20 ozt, 1/10 ozt, 1/4 ozt, 1/2 ozt, 1
ozt, 2 ozt, 10 ozt, 1 kg

KrugerrandKrugerrand
• Named after former South African President Paul Kruger and
the rand (the unit of currency in South Africa).
• Krugerrands were meant to circulate as normal currency.
They are 91.67% pure gold and 8.33% copper.
– This level of copper makes the coins more resistant to the wear and
tear of circulation.
• While the krugerrand didn’t make it as normal currency, it
did become and extremely popular bullion coin – accounting
for 90% of the gold coin market in 1980.

Maple LeafMaple Leaf
• This Canadian bullion coin comes in many different sizes and
designs.
– Gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and bi-metallic (silver and gold)
varieties are available.
– Sizes available (gold variety): 1/20 ozt, 1/15 ozt, 1/10 ozt, 1/5 ozt, 1/4
ozt, 1/2 ozt, 1 ozt, 10 kg, and 100 kg.
• The 100 kg coin was originally created as a promotional
product. But it sparked so much demand that the Canadian
mint now produces them on a special order basis.
• A 100 kg Maple Leaf is 50 cm in diameter, 3 cm thick, and
contains more than $5 million in gold.

• While bullion coins are a precious metal investment,
they usually have a value higher than their precious
metal content.
– This is because of their inherent craftsmanship
and collectability.
• They tend to fetch higher prices from collectors than
