4. 4
While writing and creating the concept, I drew upon my years work-
ing in a video game store from 2001-2003. In late 2010, the time was
right to make ‘Game Over’. My idea was to shoot the pilot and market the
final product to networks to show them what the series can be.
Producing ‘Game Over’ was an amazingly tough effort. One of the
more difficult aspects to the project was finding a video game retail
location to film in. I reached out to several video game stores both large
and small. The first to call me back was the President of one of the
largest video game retail chains in North America. He loved the idea of
‘Game Over’ and everyone at a board meeting for the company
complimented the script and ideas for the show. He agreed to let ‘Game
Over’ film their first episode in one of his retail stores and give me the
$10,000 starting capital to complete filming. Production was moving along
when said President called with the bad news that he couldn’t give me
the $10,000 but I could still film at the store for free. Disappointed, but
certainly not defeated, I sought the aid of devoted fans and fellow film-
makers, launching an Indie-GoGo campaign. We were able to raise 15% of the funds needed. Thriv-
ing off the high of a job well done, I received another hit - we could no longer use the store as the
company was experiencing financial problems.
Having to start from square one again, I sent out inquiry emails to independently owned video
game stores in hopes that one of the owners would let us film there. An independently owned video
game store offered to let us shoot at his store, saying he loved the idea and could really see this
being a hit.
It didn't work out because his store was forced to close due to his lease ending.
Frustrated and not knowing where to turn next, I thought it was best to forgo everything and
move on. After a few more days, realizing for a third time I had to start from square one. At a Pennsyl-
vania Film Industry Association meeting, the studio head of the newly built Sun Center Studios
agreed to let me hold auditions there, giving us an amazing venue to assess talent. Ultimately, the
head of Sun Center Studios also agreed to let us film on the studio lot in a part of the building they
weren’t using. With that came the daunting task of building a video game store literally from the
ground up. By sheer luck, a closing Blockbuster Video and Rite Aid pharmacy provided enough mate-
rials to build the racks, shelves, counters, and everything else to dress the set to give it the appear-
ance of an actual video game store. Not having the $10,000 capital and added costs forced myself
and the producers to use every creative trick in the book to stretch every cent. We raised the other
funds necessary for production from our own pockets, maxing out our credit cards, late donations and
fundraising parties. In the end, through every potential road block, ‘Game Over’ episode one, ‘The
Launch Party’, filmed from April 8-10, 2011. The very next day was my birthday.
The support for ‘Game Over’ has been astounding. The project has attracted support from all
over the world from people in the video game industry to people in the retail world to fellow filmmak-
ers.
Thank you for reading this press kit. I hope you enjoy watching and reading about ‘Game Over’
as everyone involved did making it.
For the art and love of filmmaking,
Dave Bullis

TAGLINE: The worst video game store in the world.
Mixing geek and video game culture with elements of the retail
world, GAME OVER is a half hour comedy about five employees
working at a video game store who are trying to reach the next
level in their lives. Set in a strip mall in suburban Philadelphia,
GAME OVER focuses on these employees as they interact with
insane customers, other stores and each other.
The best way to describe GAME OVER is, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" meets "Clerks"
meets "The IT Crowd".
THE PILOT EPISODE

and Jim use the opportunity to try it out. After accidently breaking the system, the employees hatch a
scheme to rig the raffle by having frequent customer, Van Berg win the raffle so they can avoid getting
caught.

Kenneth is an internationally respected actor, direc-
tor and teacher. He has appeared in well over 50
films including "Cocktail", "X- Men" and "The Hurri-

Piggy was his first leading lady in "Muppets Take
Manhattan". Recently, Kenneth was honored with a
Best Actor Award at the WMIFF Film Festival in
Washington D.C. for his searing characterization of
an ex-con in "Non Serviam". McGregor is usually
cast as the heavy and was thrilled that David and
Chris gave him the opportunity to do some comedy.
He had a great time and truly believes that David Bullis is “a director to keep your eye on...a very
talented winner!”
JIM KAUFMAN
Age: ?
Gamer: ?
Favorite Genre: ?
Jim’s past, and certainly his present, are shrouded in mystery. It’s
difficult to say if he is, in fact, a paid employee of Game Over, even
though the employees and customers have seen him every day for
as far back as they can remember. His tales of days long ago are
more than likely fictionalized, but his cohorts have learned to just go
along with them. Moreso than his stories are the
outlandish problem-solving methods. When the team runs into
trouble, Jim is at the ready to assist, though it may make them
worse off than before.

Levi "Doctor Octoroc" Buffum is an American chiptune
musician and pixel artist currently based in Philadelphia.
Drawing influences from 80's pop culture and beyond,
primarily video games from console systems made by
Nin-tendo, the artist initially gained notable Internet
recognition in December 2008 with his chiptunes album of
Christmas songs arranged in the style of different NES
games, entitled 8-Bit Jesus. He later made a name for
himself as a freelance artist, creating 8-bit and 16-bit
parody animations, most notably his re-imagining of the
Internet sensation Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (original
film by Joss Whedon) as a theoretical Nintendo game. Dr.
Horrible's Sing-Along Game was released in April 2010 and
since then, "the Doctor" has created similar works of
animation based on Twilight, Jersey Shore, Glee, Harry
Potter, Doctor Who, and Man Vs. Wild.

TERRY CALLEN (Poster Designer) Lifelong artist, Terry
Callen formed Screaming Brain Studio in 2008, with the
goal of applying his unique and often macabre style to his
own line of apparel and
merchandise. Largely in part to fine detail and creative
layouts, his art was quickly noticed and soon, he was being
requested to do art for book covers, movie posters, t-shirts,
sculptures and toys. It wasn’t long before writers and
celebrities began asking him to visually translate their work
into comic book form.
Terry’s style has gained a solid following, and appeals to
fans both in and out of the horror genre. His work has been
seen in Horrorhound and Rue Morgue magazine and he
most recently provided the t-shirt artwork for
FIxTheChapel.com, a group dedicated to the resotration of
the last remaining landmark from Night of the Living Dead. Shirts for this project have been shipping
around the world.
