The history of the Sentinel
• Energy consumption real-time data give an incredible
amount of information to engineers. Hey.. Why only
engineers?
• Design, prototyping, testing and production of technology
was financed by external private equity. The didactic pack
was internally developed.
• Risk-avoiding attitude and nearly zero budget available for
extra activities in schools were main problems/barriers
• Creative solution: put students in control, spread results
and engagement via social network
• Private equity/public funding involved in the didactic
activity would mean better didactic tools and faster
scalability

The future of the Sentinel
• We are closing a distribution agreement with a non-
profit organization of national level in Italy > 1.000
schools in 3 years
• Long-term goal: savings generated by didactic
activity to be used as financial leverage to invest in
structural energy efficiency
• With strong financial support Sentinel could be
delivered in E.S.Co. mode, which means free of
charge for schools
