1 PC per student in 1 slide
• Objectives: testing the 1:1 computer
education approach in classroom
• Sector: School
• Impact: model adopted on a larger scale
• Why is it innovative? Primary Students
developed critical skills in using ICT, an
played an active role in their learning
process; Secondary students engaged as
technical supporter

The history of 1 computer per student
• How did it started: The OLPC program inspired teachers from different
school levels to test the 1:1 computing approach in education
• Who financed it: Regional Gov, Intel and regional dept of Ministry of
Education in different phases of the project
• What problems/barriers we found along the way: Primary teachers were
not skilled in managing the technical aspects of using notebook in
classroom; students could access the web without control, lack of
pedagogical model,
• What creative solutions have brought us here: A solid model was
designed in terms of: wi-fi access with proxy for safe navigation at
school, list of pre-loaded software, policy for using PC at school and at
home, password protected access to the PC, design of lessons plans
• What we would change if we could: support in the measure of learning
effectiveness
• What we would NOT change: the possibility for students to bring home
the PC

The future of my practice
• Where will we be in 3 years? Promoting
better integration of mobile devices in
everyday school activity
• And in 10? Adapting learning method for the
tablet born generation
• What would we need to make it scalable?
More investment in infrastructure
(network, cloud) and in teachers training
