Statement on transparency, governance and
accountability
Dear Luiz,
I am writing to thank you for the support you have shown the Irish Cancer Society —
through your donations, your volunteering, and goodwill. You have been the driving force
behind making sure that we can have a future without cancer.
You may have been following the recent media coverage about Console in which we have
learned about the complete lack of governance in that organisation. I know that you place
great trust in the Irish Cancer Society to use your contribution, financial or otherwise, in the
most effective way possible and to make sure that the lives of those affected by cancer are
improved. I wish to assure you that we do this honestly and transparently. We value every
contribution we receive, and it is our duty to make sure that it’s used wisely, and I take that
duty very seriously.
Transparency, governance & accountability
I want to reassure you that at Irish Cancer Society we operate to the highest standards of
accountability and transparency. Every year our accounts are audited by Deloitte & Touche
and are available to view online here. Our accounts are available to view on our website
every year, and have been for many years.
Irish Cancer Society is a registered charity, and is entered in the Register of Charities.
