Australian Astrologer Lizzie Bodenham teamed with
photographer Ulla Nyeman and her band of merry-
men - they wander through the sun signs to bring you a
happy insight into your child’s horoscope.
We chat Leo youngsters, the sensitive & imaginative Pi-
sces and Scorpio the Mythic Warriors.

Born at the astrological New Year, Mars-ruled Aries youngsters are often the first to speak up, to express determination and go
forth daringly with a boldness that can only be admired. But blazing a trail requires a little forethought . . . “look before you leap”
and “complete one task before initiating another”: it may be wise to plant such seeds in these youngsters’ minds. The world of
heroes, and of fantastic beings who dream the impossible, is one the young Ram truly believes in, deep down. Nurturing this
idealism is essential for them to be the warriors of the heart.

2. Venus-ruled young Taureans are sensual beings. They appreciate the beauty of what they can see, feel, hear, vocalise and smell
and are generally responsive to nature and the realm of colour and sound. They know what they value from a young age and
the chances are they will have an inborn common sense and practical nature. Encourage them to stop and smell the roses, but

Babes born under the sign of the twins may well talk before most, and their versatile, curious minds have an insatiable urge to
learn, exchange information and explore from a young age. Holding their attention for long may be tricky, so encourage them to
stop, take a deep breath and listen every now and then! Like a bee collecting pollen from a variety of flowers, the Mercury-ruled
youngster find that variety is indeed the spice of life! The sign of the twins, symbolising a merging of the mental and physical,

These Moon-ruled youngsters may have emotions or moods that ebb and flow like the tides. Innately protective and sensitive
by nature, the young crab will absorb and reflect his or her experience of home and family as they grow. Give them space to
dream and make believe, look after pets or tend a little garden. These children generally have a quirky sense of humour and
encouraging the loony bird to see humour in all, helps them traverse life’s highs and lows.
These Sun-ruled young lions have naturally radiant energy -- even the quiet ones have a presence that commands attention in
some way. Leo youngsters are generally creative and playful, with an inborn sense of drama, so encourage them to express their
talents in some way. Innately generous, these solar youngsters do however need to be reminded to share the limelight from
time to time! The young lions and lionesses may sometimes roar, especially if they are not getting the respect or approval they

Like Earth sign Taurus, Libran youngsters are ruled by Venus and have an appreciation for art, beauty, colour and the fine things
in life. However as an Air sign they are people-oriented and curious, seeking the value of relating. The symbol of the Scales
indicates that these Libran children’s personal equilibrium can be easily tipped by harshness or indecision -- so encourage them
to use logic where possible, and to develop their ideas and aesthetic sensibilities. The urge for fairness enables Libran young-
sters to see both sides to every story, so encourage them to view the overall plot with a balanced measure of head and heart.
Like Air sign Gemini, Virgo youngsters are ruled by Mercury and are alert, perceptive and adaptable. In contrast, however,
these Earth signs can be shy if they don’t know you, but will be eager to lend a helping hand if they do! The sign of the Maiden
symbolises purity and high standards; these children like to do a job well and to be well informed of the facts. Often known as
the “realists” of the zodiac, the Virgo child may thrive on routine and adapt well to structure, but be sure to encourage occasional

The Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius children are generally energetic, optimistic and curious about many things. Like their symbol the
centaur, these youngsters may need plenty of room to gallop so they’re free to aim their arrow in any direction they choose!
Young Archers thrive on activities that help them expand their horizons physically and mentally. If you are fair and honest with
these youngsters, they will respect the boundaries you place on them. Encourage them to aim their arrows high and feel the
earth beneath their hooves, whilst staying in touch with the truth of their hearts.
The children born under the sign of the Scorpio are often some of the strongest-willed youngsters you’ll ever meet. Rather like
Mythic Warriors, they express a mixture of determination and intensity, able to withstand and endure -- but don’t be fooled,
they have x-ray-like sensitivity! Usually private about their feelings, these water signs do, however, need to let off steam every
now and then, through activities that challenge them mentally or physically. Encourage them to take time out and explore fan-
tasy, puzzles or the mysterious secrets of life.

Capricorn’s symbol is the mountain goat, so don’t expect these children to be just “kids”! Ruled by Saturn or “Old Father Time”,
the young Capricorn may display a sense of integrity and practical common sense from a young age. Persistence, and the ability
to focus on the task at hand, enables the young goat to put much effort into anything they set their minds to. Be sure to praise
these efforts and encourage them to not take life too seriously. After all, a sense of humour can be one of the best companions
on the long path up the mountain.
The young Aquarian is ruled by Uranus, a planet that likes to march to its own rhythm, regardless what the status quo may be.
These Uranian youngsters may be assertive individuals but loyal to their friends: idealistic, independent and sometimes a little

around them. A simple daily ritual of a bath or a swim can clear unnecessary energy they may have absorbed. Encourage these
