2. Will The Glass Ceiling Ever Be Craked?
• Women's suffrage (also known as
woman suffrage or woman's right
to vote)[1] is the right of women
to vote and to stand for electoral
office. Limited voting rights were
gained by women in Finland,
Iceland, Sweden and some
western U.S. states in the late
19th century.[2] National and
international organizations
formed to coordinate efforts to
gain voting rights, especially the
International Woman Suffrage
Alliance (1904), and also worked
for equal civil rights for women.
• BlackLivesMatter was created in
2012 after Trayvon Martin’s
murderer, George Zimmerman,
was acquitted for his crime, and
dead 17-year old Trayvon was
post-humously placed on trial for
his own murder. Rooted in the
experiences of Black people in
this country who actively resist
our de-humanization,
#BlackLivesMatter is a call to
action and a response to the
virulent anti-Black racism that
permeates our society.Black Lives
Matter is a unique contribution
that goes beyond extrajudicial
killings of Black people by police
and vigilantes.

Every since I was a little girl my mother would say, “You can have anything you
want, but you have to work for it.” I done exactly what she said and many times
did not get a job, because I was a woman or because I felt like, “I just didn’t matter
enough.” The Woman Suffrage and The Black Lives Matter Movements tells us a
lot about getting ahead in live. I will be comparing and contrasting the two. Maybe
then I will probably have a better understanding of what my mother use to say.

I do not know if there will ever be a place like Utopia where everything is perfect
and everyone is treated the same, but I do know since The Women’s Suffrage
Movement we have made a big difference. The Black Lives Matter have much
further to go. I don’t think the Glass Ceiling Is Cracked for women and black lives,
but It is shattered.
