English for Legal Drafting
Why should you attend ?
Traditional legal language has developed in such a way that most legal documents
are incomprehensible to laymen and sometimes even to qualified lawyers. There are
now, however, moves to reform legal language in order to make legal writing clearer
and to make legal documents more useful to clients and colleagues. Non-lawyers
expect to be able to understand what they sign and judges criticise and penalise poor
drafting. This course aims to show that it is possible to express and explain complex
ideas and arguments simply and clearly.

Turning Theory into Practice
This course looks at how legal English has developed in the past and at the current
efforts to improve and simplify it. It encourages participants to analyse their own
written work and helps them to improve their writing in terms of structure, style,
grammatical accuracy and choice of vocabulary. The programme will be based

feedback and discussion of current trends in legal drafting.

To be successful, marketing strategies need to be tailored to a global marketplace as well as having to reflect differences in local markets. As a result, marketing campaigns require a much higher degree of international co-ordination to ensure that corporate, product and brand values are seamlessly aligned. Considering that many campaigns are planned, co-ordinated and even launched in English, it is becoming imperative for International Marketers to have a strong grasp of Marketing-related English. From planning campaigns to negotiating supplier contracts, excellence in English has become an invaluable skill. Turning Theory into Practice Key in our series of Specialist Group Programmes, this course encourages participants to share ideas and experiences in order to facilitate the development of communication skills in relevant marketing situations and contexts. The programme will be based around the needs of the participants, developing language skills through discussion, role-plays, presentations, vocabulary development, language analysis, negotiation practice all in the context of the core functions of a Marketing Professional.
