Slide 90 DARS Process Groups
The DARS Process Groups are commonly called “Project Phases.” The Process Groups are arranged in bubbles starting with Initiating which formally opens the project and assigns the project manager. This bubble has an arrow that leads to the next bubble or process group called Planning. This is where the project manager and the team clarify the scope of all of the work required to complete this project. This bubble has an arrow that leads to executing which is the just do it phase of the project. There are no documents associated with this phase. This is where we follow the work plan to make sure the work is getting done. This 3rd bubble has an arrow that leads to Monitoring and Controlling 4th bubble. In the Monitoring and Controlling phase is where the project manager monitors the project to make sure it is going as originally planned. We will do status reports telling the progress, accomplishments and where we are planned vs. actual. This bubble has an arrow that leads either back to planning or on to closing depending on how the project is going. If we need to make a change because the project is not going well we will go back to the planning and then on to execution. Or on to closing if the project is going as planned. Closing is represented with a 5 bubble. In closing we bring the project to an orderly close. We also get formal sign-of by the customer, have a lessons learned session with the team and archive the documents. We also want to celebrate with the team the successful completion of the project. From Closing there is an arrow that leads to a sixth bubble called Follow-up. This is where an implementation report is done 6-12 months after the project.
