2. BIOGRAPHY:
Chinese native and globally renowned pianist, Ang Li,
first appeared publicly at the Beijing Concert Hall at
the age of six, having played her first notes by ear at
just one year old. At thirteen years of age, Li made
her orchestral debut at Avery Fisher Hall with the Little
Orchestra Society of New York. She attained her
Bachelor’s Degree from The Curtis Institute of Music
and received her Master’s from The Julliard School in
New York. Ms. Li performs worldwide on a regular
basis, primarily in North America, Asia, and Europe
and has attended The Kennedy Center in Washington
D.C., Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall
in New York, Hong Kong City Hall, Forbidden City
Concert Hall in Beijing, and National Arts Centre in
Ottawa, among others. Li’s repertoire is extensive as it
is impressive, ranging from the early Baroque period
to contemporary and her exemplary work has won
her numerous prestigious awards, including being
granted first prize in the 64th Montreal Symphony
Orchestra Competition (OSM).
“A stellar young pianist whose talent equals that of the world’s
finest.” –Jing Zuoren (music critic)
“Ang Li’s Haydn was beyond the understanding of young
performers. She carried out the whole sonata with complete
ease and freedom under her superior and skillful hands and her
wonderful control of the music.” –Piano Artistry Magazine
“She has the technique and artistry to compete with her
elders…the listener sensed a lyric touch and an aptitude for
making a Steinway sing.”— The Gazette, Montréal
